The Dominion of Senex-Juvex was a client state of the Galactic Empire established in 19 BBY to rule Senex-Juvex region by House Vandron, the most prominent of the Ancient Houses. The Dominion's government was led by the Grand Duke, a title held members of the Vandron family, and was assisted by a council of other noble houses. It functioned as a feudalistic decentralised monarchy, with each house having absolute power over their planetary or system fief while nominally answering to the Grand Duke. Due to the outbreak of the War in Senex-Juvex, the Dominion created a centralised military force with Imperial assistance, the House Defence League. The Defence League carried out most of the security functions in the region while Imperial Army forces were reserved for special operations and offensives. The Dominion would exist until 5 ABY, with the fall of the Galactic Empire, the sector proclaimed full independence once again.
Foreign relations[]
The Dominion maintained an embassy, the Senex-Juvex High Commission, on Coruscant that represented its interests at Emperor Palpatine's Court. Since the Empire did not consider it important enough to interfere in its affairs directly, an Imperial Ambassador was appointed as the Empire's main political representative in the region, as opposed to a Moff. The main Imperial Embassy was located on Neelanon, the nominal capital of the Senex sector, but recognising the reality that the region was still governed as one entity by House Vandron, an Imperial Consulate was built on Karfeddion, the throne-world of the Grand Duke.
Economy[]
The sector consisted of agricultural worlds with a primarily agrarian economy dominated by feudal lords, and increased trade with the rest of the Galactic Empire meant that the Dominion mostly exported food. In return Senex-Juvex imported manufactured goods and advanced technology, being behind the rest of the galaxy in technological development. The main currency in circulation was the Senex pound, but Imperial credits were increasingly favoured by the Battle of Yavin. The exchange rate of the Imperial Credit Standard usually remained around 1.2 Senex pounds.
