In 1,384 BBY, Bogg 14, the fourteenth moon of Bogden, was destroyed by Argus Z'dar.
Background[]
Some weeks earlier, Qerriz, a Verpine technician of the Breld Syndicate, which manufactured nuclear weapons, received word of Z'dar's bombing of an Imperial Army training base on Galidraan. Distressed to have played a part in devastation on such a scale, Qerriz decided to defect to the Galactic Republic and inform it about the Syndicate's operations.
Apprised of the situation, Darqyren Valt placed a bounty on Qerriz's head via Chursyrzi Holdings, LTD. Discontent with that, Z'dar deployed several of his Crusaders to track down Qerriz as well. Qerriz eventually took refuge on Bogg 14, unable to penetrate deeper into Republic space, while Jedi, Sith, and Vanguardians sought to capture him.
Destruction[]
A mercenary company caught up with and killed Qerriz, but were reduced to a few by Qerriz's defenders, in the employ of Sorin Ruy'the, and wiped out by Darth Alecto. Meanwhile, Tirien Kal-Di dueled and overpowered Kol'bui Lardt, who was killed attempting to escape him, but not before she sent Z'dar a burst transmission advising him of her failure.
Kal-Di and his apprentice, Narasi Rican, escaped Bogg 14 on their Second Chance and hailed the Crusader in orbit, where Kal-Di attempted to persuade Z'dar not to unleash a nuclear strike on the city. Though he believed Qerriz was dead, Z'dar did not take for granted that his information had died with him, and launched nuclear missiles at the surface. To the Jedi's horror, Z'dar did not merely destroy one city—he targeted the mining chasms which had rendered Bogg 14 all but geologically unstable, breaking the moon apart.
Its gravity disrupted, the moon broke into increasingly smaller fragments, while each of its domed cities burst open, killing all the inhabitants.
Aftermath[]
Some 300,000 sentients were believed to have died in the attack. While the Galactic News Service initially characterized Bogg 14's destruction as a "mining disaster", Kal-Di was incensed at Z'dar's actions, and, when tipped off to Z'dar's Malachor Base, went there to confront him. Kal-Di and Darth Alecto declared a temporary truce, killing Z'dar and his companions, while Rican freed the imprisoned Crusaders and retook the Crusader.
Ironically, Z'dar's fears were proven correct—Sorin's personnel on world managed to pass him Qerriz's intelligence about the Breld Syndicate before the moon was destroyed. Sorin sold that information to Kal-Di, enabling Kenza Rowkwani to lead a raid on Tenara, where she captured Darqyren Valt and the Syndicate's manufacturing site.
