This article is about the Venator-class Star Destroyer. You may be looking for the Corellian corvette.

The Destiny was a Venator-class Star Destroyer of the Republic Navy and later the Confederate Navy under the Confederation of Free Planets. It was commanded by Admiral Sam Beckett Archer during the Clone Wars. It was assigned to clone marshal commander Typhuss and was placed under the admiralty of Admiral Archer. The 223rd Republic Fleet Regiment was based on the Destiny.

Characteristics[]

Offensive and defensive systems[]

The armament of the Destiny consisted of eight DBY-827 heavy dual turbolaser turrets, two medium dual turbolaser cannons, fifty-two point-defense dual laser cannons, ten medium turbolaser cannons, and four heavy proton torpedo tubes.

Propulsion systems[]

The Destiny was equipped with powerful engines and a Class 1 hyperdrive with an effective range of 60,000 light-years. Its main reactor could annihilate up to 40,000 tons of hypermatter fuel per second, producing at maximum 3.6 × 1024 watts of power. The main engine room had several vertical power cylinders littering the room, with walkways on different levels providing access for onboard personnel.

Complement[]

The Destiny carried a complement of 420 fighters: 192 V-wing or V-19 Torrent starfighters, 192 Eta-2 Actis-class interceptors, and thirty-six ARC-170 starfighters. The ship also typically maintained a variety of shuttles in its hangars. Since it was capable of entering a planet's atmosphere and landing on its surface, the pre-Imperial Venator-class had a standard complement of forty LAAT/i gunships and twenty-four military walkers for planetary operations.

Transporters[]

Destiny carried two top-secret experimental transporters created by Republic scientist Verilion Toran during the Clone Wars. Their aim was to help develop transporter technology, in order to transport, or "beam", from different locations with a transporter, and were being transferred to Coruscant. As stated by Toran, the machine would take apart the atoms of the being or object being transported and reassemble them at the destination point. It was used to beam up two captured clone troopers, Beater and Deadeye, from a Separatist prison during the Battle of Hoth.

History[]

During the Clone Wars, the Destiny fought in many battles, such as the Battle of Christophsis, the Battle of the Kaliida Nebula and the Battle of Bothawui, also participating in the Battle of Ryloth, the Battle of Devaron and the First Battle of Saleucami. In 20 BBY, the ship fought in the Battle of Boz Pity against the Separatist fleet, engaging the Confederate fleet attacking Coruscant in the following year. Later, she transported CC-2009, CC-5052 and Jedi General Aayla Secura to Endor for a mission on the planet. Following the mission to Endor, the Destiny transported CC-2009, along with the 52nd Star Corps, Alpha Company and the 42nd Assault Squad to the planet of Felucia, with the Intrepid carrying CC-5052 and Jedi General Aayla Secura to the world.

Imperial service[]

After Order 66, the Destiny transported the three units off Felucia. Later on, she also helped Darth Vader search for Ion Team, a clone trooper unit that did not follow Order 66. Eventually, CC-2009, together with the 52nd Star Corps, CC-1119 and the 501st Legion captured Ion Team and took them back to Darth Vader.

New Republic and Galactic Alliance[]

The Destiny served in the New Republic Navy and later the Galactic Alliance Navy, still under the command of Admiral Archer. She fought in the war against the Yuuzhan Vong, serving in the Galactic Alliance after the defeat of the extra-galactic invaders and the eventual overthrow of the New Republic by the GA.

Confederation of Free Planets service[]

The Jedi soon devised a coup to become the next government, succeeding in their attempt and starting the Confederation of Free Planets. The Destiny served in the Confederate Navy. During the Second Yuuzhan Vong Invasion, she fought in the Battle of Pantora against Yuuzhan Vong Koros-Strohna. The LAAT gunships launched from the Destiny made it through the blockade, as Admiral Archer's Star Destroyers engaged the Yuuzhan Vong worldships. Later, Admiral Archer commanded the Confederate forces in the Battle of Centax 8 against the Yuuzhan Vong forces from the Destiny. After the next activation of Order 66, he commanded the Confederate forces in the Battle of Aqualish against the Jedi and, after the battle changed course, in the Endor system. After the death of Admiral Archer at Endor in 10 ABY, Captain Juno Eclipse took command of the Destiny.

New Galactic Empire[]

After the Confederation of Free Planets was replaced by the New Galactic Empire, Destiny served the Empire and was placed under the command of Admiral Ozai. She led the attack on the Mon Calamari Shipyards and later won the battle. Destiny was destroyed during the Second Assault on Malfoy Manor in 13 ABY.
