The Declon was an independent galactic government determined to overthrow the New Republic and rule the galaxy. Their chief manufacturer, Declon Manufacturing Lines, were said to have been highly skilled in the use of technology, creating many weapons of war such as the M-Wing Infiltrator and the V-220 Skorpio. The Declon military was divided into three parts, the Declon Army Corps, the Declon Navy Corps, and the Declon Marine Corps. The Declon military included both organic and droid forces. After their second major attempt at galactic domination failed, it splintered into several groups. The most successful of these was the Confederacy of Declon Loyalists. It is notable for its being the only government in galactic history to use the D-Series Exterminator Droid and C-Series Battle Droid in battle.
History[]
The Declon's origins are a mystery, but the organization is believed to have been started by Porro Linn, the son of a former Separatist. Linn was sympathetic to the goals and ideals the Confederacy of Independent Systems had been founded on, and in 24 ABY founded a group with similar goals: the Declon (whose name he took from a Balan-Quado legendary hero). He declared that the Declon would soon replace the New Republic as the Galaxy's governing body.
Although the only planet the Declon controlled was Balan-Quod, Linn and his small group of advisers decided to send the New Republic the Declon's manifesto, which detailed their goals and ideals. The manifesto was roundly dismissed by the New Republic Senate, who considered it idle threats from a would-be dictator. This dismissal of his manifesto made Linn furious, and he committed most of the fledgling Declon military to an assault on Coruscant.
Linn was overeager, and his first attempt at overthrowing the New Republic ended in failure. Fleeing to Balan-Quod, a planet that Linn had conquered earlier in his life, he decided to bide his time and gain more followers before attempting another coup.
After acquiring the services of notorious crime lord Mekron as the Supreme Commander of the Declon armed forces, as well as the battle droid-making services of the factory planet Santose, Linn began scouring the Galaxy, looking for army recruits. The Galaxy had just been through the Droid Wars and was entering the Great Jedi Schism, and many were disillusioned with the New Republic, gladly joining the Declon. Before long, Linn had some hundred planets under his control. At this point, Linn felt it was time for his conquest of the Galaxy to begin.
The Declon War[]
The Declon began attacking major Republic outposts, and though they lost a fair few battles, Mekron proved a brilliant strategist, and the Declon may very well have won the war if the Republic had not launched a last-ditch sneak attack on Balan-Quod. Taken by surprise, the Declon had no time to organize a proper resistance, and within mere hours the planet had been taken by the Republic.
Linn sent out a message to all Declon forces announcing the government's dissolution, and fled with a small fleet of star destroyers. With these he formed his second organization, the Rutanno, named for his former wife. This group did not last long, as after Linn discovered a Sith holocron and unlocked his latent Force-sensitivity, he joined Darth Xana's Sith order, pledging all of his resources to his new master.
Splintering[]
Following the Declon's formal dissolution, several high-ranking members of the Declon government and armed forces rushed to fill the power vacuum caused by Linn's desertion. Boobas D'fret, an Admiral in the Declon navy, formed the first of these, the Second Declon, based on the planet Retyule. D'fret's attempt to seize Toydaria drew attention towards the Declon splinter factions from the New Republic, and kicked off the Declon Eradication War.
Other splinter organizations included the Dec, which was formed by the head of the Declon Marine Corps, Shank Mozir, the Lon, founded by Mozir's brother, Zor Mozir, and the Declon Remnant, led by former Declon Army Corps officer Pikkin Mekkon. This group managed to retake Balan-Quod, which they renamed Planet Declon, or simply Declon. They managed to hold onto Declon through multiple assaults, but were finally defeated in the Fifth Battle of Declon.
The final splinter group was also the most successful. It was known as the Confederacy of Declon Loyalists, and it was headed by Mekron and Santose Systems designer Merebon Sanken (the designer of the D-Series, C-Series, and TN-Series of droids). The CDL, as it was often called, was based on Mekron's artificial planet, Mekrosphere, and managed to reclaim much of the Declon's former territory before its entire governing body was killed when Mekrosphere was destroyed in the Final Battle of Mekrosphere.
Following the defeats of these splinter factions, the Declon was no more. Its ideals were occasionally espoused by disenfranchised students, but no overt attempt to restore the organization was ever attempted.
