Named after it's infamous Imperial predecessor, Death Squadron was the single largest fleet in the armarda of the Sith Order of Decreto and the personal fleet of the Dark Lord of the Decreton Empire, and the Sith Trinite.
History[]
The 39th Heavy Cavalry was first formed just after the battle of Fondor, when various vessels from many extremely weakened fleets joined together during the Yuuzhan Vong War in order to form a large, cohesive fighting force; drawing upon the collective experience of all it's crews and service men. Just after the Defence of Fire Hill, on Kalarba the 39th was placed under the command of the recently appointed Jedi Knight, Jasca Ducato and ordered too the planet Duro to defend it against the invading Yuuzhan Vong, unfortunately for the 39th the first battle did not go so well, and the flagship of the fleet, Hunter's Dagger was destroyed.
And so, for the next year the 39th was forced to fight a rear-guard action, losing many vessels in the progress until eventually, the Yuuzhan Vong invaded Ylesia. It was here that the 39th achieved their first pitch-battle victory against the Yuuzhan Vong. Although eventually forced to retreat in the face of overwhelming numbers, Ducato's actions saw his promotion to the rank of Jedi Master, and the Galaxy-class Super Star Destroyer The Soiyo become his new flagship.
The 39th continued to fight for the rest of the war, seeing action at the battles of Ebaq 9, Dac, Corulag and Coruscant before it was retired from front line service to become a Jedi battlefleet, remaining under the command of Jasca Ducato. It would fight in the Swarm War, but served a much smaller role.
Not a year would pass after the Swarm War before the 39th, the most combat hardened fleet in the Galactic Alliance armarda was once again called to arms, this time to engage a strong pirate force in the Quelli sector, supposedly lead by a Dark Jedi. It was here that the 39th's devotion to their commander, Jasca Ducato was proven to be greater than their devotion to the GFFA when, following his fall to the darkside, the 39th joined him, including many of its Jedi entourage. Being renamed Death Squadron, it would wreak havoc throughout the Outer rim. Many months would pass in which GFFA intreasts in the Outer rim were shook to the core before Darth Abeonis cold be tracked down and redeemed. Many of Death Squadron's vessels refused to return to the GFFA and were destroyed, those that survived were placed under the command of a new officer in the 4th fleet.
Sith Crusade[]
With the outbreak of war in 61 ABY the 4th fleet would be called upon to serve the GFFA against their former commander. They would not see actual action until the second year of the war when, under the command of Admiral Ema, the 4th fleet engaged another former comrade in arms, Admiral Strasbourg, who was leading the 2nd and 5th Sith fleets.
The 4th fleet stalled the invading Sith but at a heavy cost, most of the fleet was destroyed, and only the core vessels of the ex-39th remained. Ordered to retreat to Dac for refits, the 4th fleet would remain out of action for much of the year, until the Sith Lord Darth Abeonis arrived at Dac and reclaimed his lost fleet.
Once again a Sith fleet, they retook the title of Death Squadron, and would fight valiantly by their master's side.
