Darth Samael, born Ulthane Archon was a former Jedi Padawan turned Dark Lord of the Sith in accordance to Palpatine's new Rule of Many, which allowed there to be more than two Sith in the galaxy at a time. Samael was an apprentice of Asajj Ventress and, unlike most Sith, the two had a very loving relationship, eventually getting married in an ancient Sith ceremony. Samael met his end when Mace Windu's Jedi elite team attempted to arrest Palpatine, being struck down by his former Jedi Master, Kit Fisto. However, Samael's death distracted Fisto long enough for Darth Sidious to kill him.
History[]
Born to explorers on Yavin IV, Ulthane was a member of the Archon Family, known across the universe as chroniclers, explorers and archivists. At the age of six months, Ulthane's parents began to notice his force-sensitivity when he began to levitate his father's tools around their ship's cabin. Recognising this, the two sent their son to the Jedi Temple to recieve training. He was assigned to Kit Fisto, who came to treat Archon as a son. However, while off on a training mission when he was twenty, Archon was captured by Asajj Ventress and taken to Yavin IV, Ulthane's homeworld, where Darth Sidious was rebuilding the Sith by instating the Rule of Many. Sidious congradulated Ventress on bringing a potential Acolyte into the Order. He also rewarded her by Making her a full-fledged Sith Lady, name Darth Lilith. Ventress then took Ulthane as her Sith apprentice.

Life as a Sith[]
Now known as Darth Samael, Archon built a Sith lightsaber under Darth Lilith's guidance. He also became a master of Makashi, as well as Juyo, which he was taught by the cyborg Darth Maul. Over time, Samael built a friendship with Maul and his brother Savage Oppress. He also grew attracted towards Ventress, who shared the same feelings. Eventually the two even slept together. When Sidious found out, he, surprisingly for a Sith, accepted the affair and permitted them to marry in an ancient Sith ceremony. In truth, however, Sidious only permitted the marriage in order for the pair to produce a powerful future Sith.

The ceremony was presided over by Sidious himself, in an ancient Sith Academy on Umbara. As was tradition in a Sith wedding, each was to present the other with a gift. Samael gifted Ventress with an ancient Sith lightsaber he had discovered on a mission to Korriban. Ventress, in return, gifted Samael with a blank holocron she herself had constructed. Following the ceremony, Samael was promoted to Sith Lord by Sidious as a wedding gift.
