Darth Raith was a Sith Lord and a Hand during the Zao tenj War. A close "friend" of Darth Nihilus, the two were barely seen apart, let alone out of contact with one another. Darth Raith was one the Sith Order of Decreto's top assassins and was responsible for many "accidents" throughout the galaxy.
Biography[]
Early years[]
Born sometime before 146 ABY Raith had a natural affinity with all things mechanical. A keen mechanic, Raith found it easy to repair or even rebuild objects thought un-repairable. But his keenness for mechanics often found him in trouble with the local authorities. Constantly breaking into store fronts searching for equipment he needed, Raith was detained on more than one occasion.
But in the year 159 ABY Raith, already a fully grown man and a successful mechanic, suddenly found his home being stormed by members of SpecOps. Angered, Raith incapacitated several of the SpecOps before being confronted by an Elite. Knowing the reputation of the Elite's Raith gave up and surrendered himself.
Raith found himself brought before a high ranking Sith Lord named Darth Wyyrlok who informed Raith that he had been remanded not for a crime, but because of his Force potential. He was told that the Sith had been watching him for many years, unsure of how to best approach him, and that they had decided to allow him to fully mature before approaching him.
Now a fully grown adult, Raith was made to choose between becoming a Sith apprentice, or living a life of seclusion in a Coruscanti slum; unsurprisingly he choose to join the Sith.
Member of the Sith[]
By the year 200 ABY Darth Raith had become a fully fledged Sith Knight and was stationed at the Sith academy on Korriban. It was here that Raith first encountered the tall, but strongly built figure that was Nihilus. Raith looked down upon Nihilus as a wannabe, and treated him with disdain; constantly belittling and embarrassing him for his refusal to speak.
Then, one day, when Raith used the Force to throw Nihilus' training equipment half way across the room and refused to pick it up, Nihilus roared in a fit of rage and swung at the Sith Knight with his lightsaber. Raith deflected the block but the raw strength of it shattered his wrist and lower arm.
Raith refused to relent and picked himself up, striking Nihilus with his fist in the side of the skull. He was shocked when he felt what was behind the Sith apprentice's mask… nothing.
Raith, in shock, fell to the floor in pain and gave up the fight, but Nihilus didn't kill him. Nihilus simply bent down and placed his head against Raith's ear, saying "You have proven your worth". Raith, although still resenting the Sith apprentice now respected him, and the two often spoke to one another. Raith was notable amongst the Sith in that he was one of only two Sith, the other being Wyyrlok, that Nihilus ever spoke too.
By the year 214 ABY Wyyrlok, Nihilus and Raith had formed a closely knit "Triumvirate", that held immense power in the Sith academy. Together, they held about as much power as Darth Forradar. Forradar, knowing this, and despising Nihilus attempted to find an excuse to remove the three Sith from the academy for good.
Then one day, Forradar gave Nihilus a message from Mahina, saying that she wished to speak with him, and that Wyyrlok was not to know of the meeting. Nihilus agreed and Forradar made his way back, to inform the Dark Lord of this development. Nihilus also made his way back to his master, but choose not to inform Wyyrlok of his meeting with Forradar, although Raith guessed that Wyyrlok already knew.
Two hours passed before Nihilus heard any word from Forradar of Mahina and he began to wonder if any was to come of the meeting, but when it did it was quick. Nihilus was arrested by Forradar on charges of conspiring against the Dark Lord, in direct defiance of the Rule of One. Nihilus drew his weapon and struck Forradar down, slaying his companions as well.
Wyyrlok and Raith, both sensing the slaughter, rushed too Nihilus' quarters to find him standing over three dead bodies. Nihilus told them what had happened and about the meeting two days before, being quick to suggest that Mahina's true target was Wyyrlok and that he himself was just a stepping stone.
Wyyrlok agreed and turned his back too the two Sith Knights, in preparation for confronting Mehina when Raith gripped his shoulder. Wyyrlok turned and protested being held back when Raith replied that he did not believe Mahina yet knew of Forradar's failure. This gave them the advantage needed to successfully overthrow Mehina.
Overthrowing the Dark Lord[]
Nihilus approached Mehina's quarters and requested entry from the guards. Once permission had been granted Nihilus entered, closing the door behind him. Mahina was clearly shocked at Nihilus' being there and exclaimed her belief that he was dead. Nihilus simply replied that Forradar's plot to replace him as Mehina's next prospective apprentice had failed and that Nihilus was ready to take up the mantle. Mahina, incorrectly believing that Nihilus had been swayed gave him a test; to kill Wyyrlok.
Wyyrlok was then brought before them, escorted by the newly appointed Hand Darth Raith, and was ordered to draw his weapon. Wyyrlok obliged and drew his lightsaber. Nihilus did the same and proceeded to strike and Wyyrlok. Wyyrlok easily with-held the Sith Knight's attacks but made certain to seem as if he was having great difficulty.
Moments passed and Raith slowly edged his way around the room, until he was standing beside Mahina, Nihilus pulled back as Wyyrlok apparently began to gain the upper hand when suddenly, Nihilus and Wyyrlok both struck and Mahina, impaling her through the abdomen.
Mahina, in total shock, looked down at her stomach and expressed her displeasure at being slain. As a final act of power she launched Raith into an open power generator, severely burning and disfiguring him.
Raith was rushed too the medical wing and hooked into a life support system. Wyyrlok did his best to use the Force to keep Raith alive, but in the end realized that if Raith was to survive, he would have to want it enough.
Appearance[]
Darth Raith was notable among the Sith because of his rather "unforgettable" appearance. His cracked skin, a symbol of his lust for power (and a parting gift from Darth Mahina), Raith was much older than one would suppose, being much over 100 years by 246 ABY.
Behind the scenes[]
Darth Raith was a sufferer of Power syndrome.
