Darth Morsus was born Rurik Gra'tua on Mandalore. He was captured by the Sith during the Second Battle of Mandalore during the Mando-Sith War. After they noticed that Rurik had a strong connect with the dark side, he was apprenticed to Darth Dolor. After learning about Plagueis's Rule of One, as well as the secret to eternal life, from Darth Plaguies's holocron, he killed his master and later orchestriated the Battle of Wayland to purge the Sith. Afterwards, he set out for the Unknown Regions to learn more about the force.
Biography[]
Early life[]
Rurik Gra'tua was born on Mandalore in 1,164 ABY. When he was one, the Sith invaded Mandalore and his mother was killed. Afterwards, he was raised solely by his father until 1,174 ABY, when the Sith invaded again and his father was killed. Grief-stricken, he took up one of his father's many weapons and headed towards a Sith camp.
Rurik snuck up around the back of the camp to catch the Sith by surprise- or so he thought. Rurik did not understand the Force and did not understand that his rage was like a beacon to he targets. He snuck into the nearest tent, gun raised. The Sith that was inside was waiting for him. Sensing Rurik's rage and great potential to be a Sith, he chose not to kill him, inside he simply disarmed him and captured him. The Sith then asked Rurik if he wanted to join the Sith. Rurik refused and cursed the Sith for the death of his father. Even then the Sith did not kill him; for he felt great potential in Rurik, potiential to possibly become the next Sith'ari. Instead he chose to imprison him; an uncommon act for the Sith.
Rurik was transported to Wayland, the headquarters of the invading Sith, for his imprisonment. He was imprisoned for two years before he killed one of his fellow cellmates. For this act, he was brought before the warden. After was warden deemed Rurik wasn't insane, he offered for him to join the Sith. This time Rurik agreed and took the name Morsus. He was then taken to the Sith academy.
Sith Academy[]
Morsus progressed quickly through the academy. He chose a traditional lightsaber and specialized in Makashi and Vaapad. For his Force training, he chose a well rounded repuitore of techniques, including Force Crush and Force Mind Control. He graduated after three years, instead of the normal five. During the graduation ceremony, where masters pick their new apprentices, Morsus was picked by Darth Dolor.
Apprenticeship to Darth Dolor[]
Morsus, now with the new title, Darth, found Dolor to be a suitable master because the two had a similar mind-set. The two mostly conducted missions away from the front lines and rarely were part of the battles. Their first mission as master and apprentice was to infultrate and destroy a weapons factory on Mandalore. They infultrated and planted the explosives with ease, but on the way out they found resistance. Morsus had one of his opponents pinned and he raised his lightsaber to deliver the finishing blow when he saw that he was his childhood friend. He hesitiated for a moment- a length of time that a normal person wouldn't notice- but then decapitated his victem. After the mission was over, Darth Dolor reprimanded and punished Morsus for his hesitation.
The Search for Darth Plagueis's Holorcon[]
In 1,182 ABY, Darth Dolor and Darth Morsus were sent to find the lost Holocron of Darth Plagueis. If this mission was successful, Morsus would be promoted to Sith Lord. The mission took master and apprentice to the Muunilinst, where the tomb was protected for over a millenium by Plagueis's dark powers. While Morsus and Dolor were exploring the tomb, the two were seperated by a collapsing ceiling. The two then split up to find the artifact. Morsus soon found Plaeguis's Holocron, but instead of taking it back to his master, he activated it.
Over the next few days, Darth Morsus learned a lot from the avatar of Plagueis. He learned the sercet to eternal life and of Plagueis's Rule of One. this In Rule of One, as opposed to Darth Krayt's, had only one master but no fellowers. This would only be possible for someone who possesses eternal life because there was no one to pass the master's Sith knowledge to. After learning all that he could, Darth Morsus destroyed the Holocron and went to kill his master.
Constructing a New Lightsaber[]
The avatar of Darth Plagueis told Darth Morsus that there was a special item inside the tomb of Plagueis's master on Korriban. After killing Dolor, he left Muunilinst and headed to Korriban to find this item. After arriving on Korriban, Morsus went to the location that the Dark Lord told him of and found only open desert. He felt a particularly strong object in the Force and focused on it as Plagueis instructed him. He raised the object with the Force and slowly a huge crypt rose out of the ground. Morsus then entered the temple and went on searching for the burial chamber. After a few hours, he found it. He opened the sacrcophagas that was inside, and amid the bones of the Sith Lord was a lightsaber. Morsus picked up the lightsaber and activated it and saw that the blade was black with a dark blue aura, as opposed to the normal Sith red. As the blade was activated, the power of the dark side in the room increased. Morsus knew this was the object that Darth Plagueis refered to. He then took the crystal out of the saber and set to work constructing his own. He put the blue-black crystal in the main end and put his old red crystal in the other end as a shoto blade.
Purge of the Sith[]
Darth Morsus knew that he would need to destroy the existing Sith Order if he was going to institute Plagueis's. He also knew that he couldn't do it alone. He then came up with the plan. He would use the war to do it.
Enlisting the Mandalorians[]
Morsus, dressed in ancient Neo-Crusader armor, returned to his home planet of Mandalore in order to use the warrior race to destroy the Sith. He arrived shortly after the Third Battle of Mandalore where the Mandalore was killed. He took part in a few skirmishes and because of his battle prowness, Morsus was named Mandalore. As his first act as Mandalore, Morsus ordered an attack on Wayland, giving his people the idea that a surprise strike on their base of operations would be enough to repel the invaders.
Placing the Sith[]
Darth Morsus took a leave of absense as Mandalore to return to the Sith Empire. He went before the Sith Council and Darth Phaesadya and told them that Darth Dolor was killed by a collapsing tunnel and that he had been wandering the tunnels ever since. He also told the council that the Mandalorians- along with multiple other states- were planning an attack on Wayland and that I would take all of the Sith to repel them. The mastes, beleieving him, immediatly started to plan to move all the Sith to Wayland.
Manipulating the Jedi[]
Darth Morsus knew that the Mandalorians could not defeat the Sith alone, so he sought the help of the Jedi. He went to Felucia, where the Jedi recently fought skirmishes against the Sith. After covering himself with fake injuries, he wandered into a Jedi medical camp, pretending to be amnesiatic. The Jedi took him in and tended to his wounds, with hopes of making him into a Jedi. A few nights later, he shot up off his cot and shouted "Wayland!". A Jedi healer came to him and he told her that he had a dream that there was a large battle on Wayland. The Jedi then informed the Jedi Council of this dream and all the Jedi set out to Wayland with hopes of destroying the Sith. During the commotion of getting ready to depart, Morsus slipped off to Mandalore to lead his troops into battle.
The Battle of Wayland[]
Darth Morsus, once again clad in Neo-Crusader armor, led his Mandalorian troops out of hyperspace near Wayland. The final Sith had arrived just a few days earlier and were still in disarray. Morsus led the ground assault, while he was supported from the air. When the Sith finally regrouped, they mounted a strong counter attack, but the Jedi arrived to bolster the Mandalorian forces. The Sith were surrounded by the combined force, and while the Jedi ceased fire, the Mandalorians continued to slaughter their foes. Then teh Jedi turned on the Mandalorians because of their massacre While this was going on, Morsus noticed Darth Phaesadya escape with a few gunships. He then pursued them.
The Battle of Lorrd[]
Soon the fleeing Sith exited hyperspace near the Lorrd System, planning to refuel before to "commandeer" a larger transport for the extragalactic journey back to their galaxy. When Morsus arrived soon after, he commed back to Mandalore to send a platoon of troops. When they arrived, Morsus immediately ordered them to attack the Sith. The battle was short as the Sith were clearly out numbered. Morsus noticed that Darth Phaesadya was fleeing and pursued him into an ice cave. The two preceded to duel intensely. Darth Morsus finally killed his adversary with a surprise attack with his shoto.
Into the Unknown[]
Darth Morsus knew that he still had much to learn about the Force, so instead of returning to his troops, he left the planet in a shuttle he stole and he was presumed dead. He headed for the Unknown Regions and was never seen again...
Legacy[]
Darth Morsus's most notable legacy is the fact that he destroyed the rest of the Sith and saved they galaxy from their conquest. Few people even knew of his existence besides the Mandalorians, whom would remember him as one of the greatest leaders they ever had.
Personality and Traits[]
In his early years, Darth Morsus was very brash and rage-driven. He attacked the Sith, a clearly superior opponent in both strength and number, on Mandalore in a blind rage out of vengance for his father. Later, he started to develop into a less violent and more calculating, insidious person, as seen when he destroyed the Sith. He also realized that he didn't need to conquer the galaxy and that it would be more important to amass knowledge of the Force.
Darth Morsus was, in fact, the Second Sith'ari. He destroyed the Sith Empire and then rebuilt it using Darth Plagueis's Rule of One.
