Darth Flurin, known as Vok Shymen during his time in the Jedi Order, was a Force-sensitive Kel Dor male who served on the Jedi High Council prior to his fall to the dark side and subsequent ascension as Dark Lord of the Sith. Having faked his death and disappeared to the edges of the galaxy to escape the clutches of the Jedi, he trained a Sith apprentice named Darth Syrinn who would go on to kill him with her Sith alchemy in 702 BBY.
Biography[]
Vok Shymen was born on Dorin in 800 BBY and was sent to the Jedi Temple at an early age after his potency in the Force was recognized. He rose quickly through the ranks of the Jedi Order, eventually attaining the rank of Jedi Master and later a position on the Jedi High Council. Famed for his levelheadedness and ability to commune with the light side, he trained several Padawans throughout his career, the last of which was Nautolan Nakaya Riso whose training he completed in 710 BBY. However, he gradually grew disillusioned with the order and, tempted by the dark side, chose to leave the order in 709 BBY, faking his own death to prevent the Jedi pursuing him. He eventually settled on the fringes of the galaxy, becoming Dark Lord of the Sith and slowly gaining power and gathering dark side artifacts. Eventually he took on Christophsis native Shiren Dizkar as his apprentice after her inadvertent brewing of a Force-imbued potion drew his attention, christening her as Darth Syrinn. They trained together for a total of seven years, Syrinn emerging as a powerful Sith alchemist and sorceress, before Syrinn, in the tradition of the Rule of Two, killed her master using her Sith alchemy and supplanted him as Sith Master in 702 BBY. Flurin's Padawan Riso eventually crossed paths with Syrinn during a Twi'lek essence transfer ritual which ultimately claimed both of their lives. It was only many years after his death that the Jedi Order learned that he had been a Sith Lord.
Behind the Scenes[]
Darth Flurin was created by HarmonyGrex for his short story Dark Sirens. As the focus of the short story was to provide additional information on Darth Syrinn, the author felt it remiss to not include a mention of Syrinn's master even if Flurin was not featured in the story in the flesh.
