Once I was lost, now I am found! I am Darth Dreyvus, and I will not be denied!
—Darth Dreyvus

Darth Dreyvus, born Karl Kargus, is a human force-sensitive who had previously been one of The Imperial Saber Guard of the Imperial Remnant. Frustrated at a lack of promotion, due to jealous or wary superiors and factional politic, he would soon be contacted by Torna Senlin, a disciple of Darth Petruv, on behalf of her master with an offer to join his New Sith Order. After ten years of training with Petruv, Karl Kargus was named a Sith Lord and granted his new name, Darth Dreyvus.

Appearance[]

Prior to his fall, Karl Kargus was a tall, striking individual with soft brown eyes and neatly trimmed, short brown hair and a clean-shaven face. He wore an altered version of Stormtrooper armor as well as a small chunk of a meteor around his neck, given to him by a bounty hunter that occasionally ran operations for the Remnants Special Forces command. After his fall to the Dark Side, Karl wore a black version of traditional jedi attire, though with black armor plates over his shoulders. He also took to wearing armored black gauntlets and boots. After learning several forgotten Sith secrets from the partially revived spirit of Darth Ertia, Dreyvus would cease wearing his meteor necklace as a sign he had cast off his past.

Personality[]

While serving in the Saber Guard, Karl Kargus was a quiet, reserved and almost serene individual, always quick to aid another in need. After his early interactions with Darth Petruv, Karl, now styled as Darth Dreyvus, remained as quiet and reserved but now was also cruel and unforgiving, initially driven by his frustration over his believed mistreatment in the past. After learning from the Spirit of Darth Ertia, and having gained considerable power, Dreyvus became driven by an earnest desire to bring the Sith to mastery over the galaxy once more.

Dreyvus, initially due to his frustration with Imperial Command, despised above all things the idea of being betrayed, even non-chalantly striking down a would-be apprentice for daring to entertain the idea of betraying him to another darksider, such as Snoke. However, Dreyvus rarely let his emotions control him, almost never losing control over himself in battle, enabling him to be both calculating and brutal as the situation demanded. Dreyvus, despite or perhaps because of his intelligence, often advocated taking the simple approach to matters, almost never taking part in or planning elaborate schemes, but also believed that the simple was not always the direct one, but rather the path of least resistance and the lowest chance of complications. Above all, however, Dreyvus always ensured that he kept a realistic grasp on both what he himself was capable of as well as his enemie's capabilities, ensuring their he would never be caught off-guard by his opponents being stronger/more cunning/more tenacious than previously anticipated.

Dreyvus was also a very passionate individual beneath his otherwise reserved surface. During his service to the remnant, he had secretly been in a relationship with one of the numerous bounty hunters that still operated on behalf of the Imperial Remnant. After falling to the Dark Side, Dreyvus, perhaps based upon echoes of his former life, would take a number of concubines and intimate partners, including one of his assassins. Even after his official dissolution of the Remnant, and the formation of The Third Empire under the rule of Petruv, Dreyvus would continue to make use of concubines. Despite this, his favored mistress would always be Torna Senlin, the very person who had brought him into contact with Petruv.

History[]

Early Life[]

Karl Kargus was born to unknown parents on the planet Onderon, which had previous received indirect assistance from the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars. Karl's innate sensitivity to the force quickly manifested to the backdrop of Anti-Imperial riots on Onderon in the wake of the Death of Emperor Palpatine, the collapse of the Galactic Empire and the slow merging of the various political and military factions that would become the Imperial Remnant. Though Onderon would join the New Republic, as an Inner Rim world, Karl and his family relocated the the Pro-Imperial world of Verudant.

Karl would later join the reformed Imperial Saber Guard, a joint effort by the various factions of the Remnant to display both unity and solidarity during the trying Cold War, and initially found great success within by rising through the ranks with the aid of his Force abilities which in turn made the Lightsaber easier for him to wield as compared to Non-Force Sensitives. However, his growing pride would be wounded as his rapid advancement finally plateaued, partially due to the Remnants distaste for Force Wielders in positions of power due to Palpatine's blunders in the waning days of the Empire and partially due to political intrigue and squabbling. Kargus would find consolation, however, in the comfort of a bounty hunter who ran operations for a faction that supported the Saber Guard more openly.

Introductions to Petruv[]

In 22 ABY, the prodigious Kargus would find himself ambushed on his way back to the Saber Guards barracks, though not by a malicious assailant, as was sometimes the case. Instead, it was Torna Senlin, one of the few remaining Inquisitors, who claimed to support, and having the backing of, the Imperial Crimson Fleet, commanded by Admiral Kirza Tantis. Torna claimed she knew of Kargus's Force Sensitivity and, playing upon his pride, said she knew of someone who could help him overcome the "petty politics" of the Remnant and help Kargus realize his destiny. When questioned, Torna only gave him a location, a time and the word Petruv.

Following Torna's instructions, Kargus arrived at a bar in the lowtown districts of Verudant's capital. Asking about the word "Petruv", Kargus soon found himself confronted by a Mandalorian named Sammen Hassik, who claimed that word could kill the careless. After a brief fight, Kargus gaining the advantage when he used the force, the Mandalorian revealed that he worked for a man called Petarion Corvus, who operated under the name Petruv, and that Corvus had instructed the Mandalorian to wait for Kargus and bring him to the actual meeting point; Petruv's ship.

A short while later, the Mandalorian had escorted Kargus aboard Petruv's Star Destroyer. Once aboard, Kargus noted that Petruv and Tantis had already violated the terms of the Galactic Concordance by raising a new Stormtooper Corps, though clad in red armor, to which Sammen replied that once the Clones were more impressive, stunning Kargus further. Kargus was soon brought to the bridge, noting that Petruv and the Admiral were locked in discussion regarding the costs of the new Clone forces; The Admiral questioning its worth and Petruv insisting upon the necessity of it. The Admiral left, Sammen quickly following on Petruv's orders, leaving Kargus with the Sith Lord. Kargus, initially doubtful of Petruv, tried to assert dominance over the Sith, but was quickly overcome by the Sith Lord's knowledge of the Force. Stunned, Petruv noted that Kargus himself was incredibly strong with the Force and that with Petruv's teachings, Kargus could become a being as fierce and awe-inspiring as Darth Vader. Kargus agreed to become Petruv's apprentice and the Sith Lord then rechristened Kargus with a new name; Darth Dreyvus.

Powers and Abilities[]

Darth Dreyvus possessed an incredibly strong connection to the force, which had drawn the attention of Darth Petruv and Snoke. With his connection to the force, Dreyvus was capable of impressive feats of agility, thanks to his force-enhanced reflexes and speed, as well as incredible feats with other force abilities. Dreyvus was capable of using the force to lift, and hold, very large objects such as First Order walkers, and even a New Republic frigate, as well as move these objects. Unlike Petruv, and numerous other Sith, Dreyvus did not channel Force Lighting, instead using an ability resembling Kinetite, whereby Dreyvus utilized the force to gather electricity from the air around him into the form of a sphere and control it, or launch it as a projectile to incapacitate immediately rather than slowly. His skill with this ability was great enough that he could gather large enough spheres to disable starships with it.

Despite his considerable telekinetic abilities, Dreyvus was most renowned for his Telepathic abilities. Dreyvus would use a Dark Side corrupted version of the Mind Trick to implant suggestions into targets, even those strong of will or with a connection to the force, though such individuals could resist the power with some effort. Dreyvus was also capable of dominating, or breaking, a persons mind with a protracted and continued version of this technique, rendering the victim little more that helpless slaves to his will. Dreyvus, similar to Snoke and Kylo Ren, was capable of utilizing the force to aggressively "pull" desired information, or memories, from a subject. After receiving instruction from the Spirit of Darth Ertia, Dreyvus was capable of using a variation of this technique to insert false information, memories and even psychological triggers into his target, allowing him to subtly manipulate his victims, even from systems away.

Dreyvus was also a renowned Lightsaber duelist, specializing in a heavily hybridized style that focused on controlling the flow and tempo of a battle based upon Dreyvus's wishes in order to lure his opponent into guarding against false attacks while punishing their now unguarded areas with overwhelming force. This not only enabled Dreyvus to draw out battles when he needed to, in order to conserve energy or tire his opponent out, but also led many of his opponents into making the mistake of thinking him timid, or unwilling to fight. Dreyvus's fighting style kept his blade almost constantly flowing, necessitating his opponent to never drop their guard. He was also fond of utilizing feints, switching saber hands to reserve the flow of his blade or even deactivating his blade only to re-ignite it to poke at a newly created hole in his opponents defense. Dreyvus also rarely chose to block an incoming strike, if he could avoid doing so, preferring instead to turn it aside in order to create a new opening, regain footing or reverse the momentum of the entire duel.

Equipment[]

Current Equipment[]

  • Red-Bladed Curved Hilt Lightsaber: Darth Dreyvus had been fond of making numerous adjustments to both his lightsaber and fighting style until finally settling upon his current weapon. The Curved hilt of the lightsaber was designed to fit more comfortably in the palm of Dreyvus's hand in order to make the weapon easier to "flow" in a one-handed swing or through a sequence of attacks that involved flourishing the blade in a stylized fashion. Like most Dark Side wielders, the blade bore a Red hue.
  • F-11d Blaster Rifle: Dreyvus came into possession of this weapon during a raid on a newly established First Order outpost in search of data pertaining to ancient Sith temples. Dreyvus showed a deal of proficiency with the weapon and would later keep it as a memento/souvenir.

Other/Former Equipment[]

  • Pale Green-bladed Lightsaber: Karl Kargus's original weapon, prior to his fall to the Dark Side. Visually, the weapon resembled the lightsaber Luke Skywalker had wielded after the events on Bespin. It had possessed a Pale Green blade. The Kyber crystal used in this weapon was later used in Darth Dreyvus's current lightsaber.

Relationships[]

Darth Petruv[]

When I found you, you were lost, confused, unaware of your potential. And now in the Darkness, with my guidance, you have been reborn not as my apprentice...but as my accomplice, my brother. You have been reborn as Darth...Dreyvus.
—Darth Petruv to Karl Kargus, now Darth Dreyvus

Despite the nature of the Sith, and Dark Side wielders in general, Dreyvus and Petruv enjoyed an almost familial, brotherly bond, cementing the unity and cohesion of these two Sith. Dreyvus, while naturally stronger with the Force, often deferred to the council of his older counterpart and would go to Petruv for advice on important, troubling or personal matters. Dreyvus would also take recommendations from Petruv very seriously, holding those his fellow Lord had sent to his service to a much higher standard than those who had recruited himself. Dreyvus, in turn, often received similar, occasionally greater, respect from Petruv.

Torna Senlin[]

Torna had served as a disciple of Darth Petruv, acting as his agent when she brought Karl Kargus into contact with Petruv. She would later become enraptured by Dreyvus and his growing power, offering herself as both servant and consort in order to gain greater standing, and Dreyvus's favor. She would often be Dreyvus's favored mistress, and even conceived a child with the Sith Lord; Morgana Kargus.

Stevrell Cown[]

Stevrell was one of Dreyvus's Sith Accolytes, once considered to be a candidate for the title of apprentice, until it became clear she would never surpass Dreyvus in either power or skill...due to a lack of desire to. Stevrell, a calculating force-sensitive Chiss, was utterly enthralled by the power Dreyvus wielded, concluding that Dreyvus and the sith that followed him would become the eventual masters of the galaxy once more, and that the Chiss must stand with them. Stevrell was totally obedient towards her new master, and proved to be both a capable student and trusted advisor, eventually serving as Dreyvus's representative amongst the New Sith Inquisitorious.

Laurek Solan[]

Laurek was another of Dreyvus's accolytes, later becoming his chief assassin. The Togruta had previously been the Padawan of Jedi-in-hiding Ryolin Sakesh, until Dreyvus utterly defeated him in such a resounding fashion that Laurek was left so confused her fall was almost child's play to the Sith. After striking down her former master as a pledge of loyalty, Laurek would go on to serve Dreyvus loyally both as an assassin as well as an occasional consort. Laurek would, for a long time, serve as the closest individual to an actual apprentice to her master, until Dreyvus took the Mandalorian Lewen Istar as his apprentice.
