Darth Debello was a Human Sith Lord of the Empire of Darth Abeonis during the early 100's ABY. Debello fought with honor in several of Abeonis' military campaigns in later life.
Upon his promotion to the rank of Sith Knight, Debello became the Sith Master of Darth Krayt, but he was killed during the Successors War by his apprentice, just after beginning his campaign against his former master, Darth Proditor.
Biography[]
Early years[]
Born to a family of pirates during the early 70's ABY, Debello was often left at home, on his own, playing with his toys whilst his parents were away. On one occasion, Debello was left in the care of his aunt and uncle on Ryloth, making friends with their Twi'lek foster son. At the age of two however things changed for Debello when his parents were killed in an engagement with a Krayt-class Sith capital ship.
With his mother and father now dead, along with most of his worldly possession destroyed, Debello was left in the care of his aunt and uncle. Life on Ryloth was harsh for Debello, and it took him a long time to master the Twi'lek skill of survival. He often went to visit the Floating Rock Gardens of Ryloth with his aunt and was amazed by the supposed "magic" that kept the rocks suspended in the air. He refused to hear it when his aunt told him that there was a scientifically plausible explanation for the suspension of the rocks.
Debello, with his home near the Bright Lands, was often on the fringes of death; causing his foster family great distress when he would disappear for days at a time, although he was often just away, exploring the vast network of underground caves.
Then, one day, just after Debello's twelfth birthday, Debello's family had the fears proven when, out of the Bright Lands came the Lyleks. Debello, who was away at the time was cut off from his homestead, and his family were unable to reach him. Fearing for his life, his uncle went out to look for him taking nothing, but his trusted blaster. He found Debello safe, and unaware of the danger he was in, but not for long. As they made their way out of the small cavern Debllo had hidden himself away in, two Lyleks swarmed them. The sheer mass of the two Lyleks counter one another, giving Debello time to escape, but his uncle was not so lucky. Tipped with the poisonous barb of one of the Lyleks, he was incapacitated instantly. Grovelling on the floor in pain, he begged for Debello to kill him. Debello, about to obliege, was too late however and watch as her uncle was ripped in two by one of the Lyleks.
Debello ran for his life, narrowly avoiding the slashing blades of the Lyleks legs. He ran as fast as he could, using the terrain to his advantage, causing one of the Lyleks to crash into a great stone boulder. The boulder fell upon the Lylek, killing it. But one still remained. Debello found himself pinned against a great stone wall, with the Lylek slowly approaching. Fearing for his life, Debello began to wish intently that some great calamity would befall the Lylek. Closing his eyes and preparing for death, Debello heard a great crash, and the distinctive scream of a dying Lylek.
Opening his eyes, Debello gazed down upon the burn out carcass of the Lylek, laying on the floor in a smouldering pile. Debello looked around, frantically trying to find the source of the Lylek's demise; finally setteting his eyes on the lonsome figure standing on the boulder above them. Jumping down, the lonsome figure revealed himself to be a tall Human man of strong build. Sporting long, red, flowing hair, the man towered above the young Debello.
A Sith apprentice[]
The tall figure of the man Debello would soon come to know as Darth Proditor, his future master, knelt down beside Debello and checked to see if he was alright. Informing Debello of his Force-sensitivity, he offered to take Debello away from Ryloth, to Korriban, so that he could be trained as a Sith. Debello refused, unless he would be allowed to say goodbye to his family.
Arriving at his aunts, Debello was horrified to see that the homestead had not survived the Lylek attacks. Not daring to go in, Debello asked Proditor if he could simply destroy the homestead, so that no-one stole anything. Proditor complied, and the homestead was collapsed in on itself. Debello, know with nothing, and no-one to live for, accepted Proditor's offer and left for Korriban.
Arriving on Korriban, Debello was amazed at the sheer size of the Sith Academy. Seemingly countless pupils came puring in and out of the academy doors, heading into the local village for foods, drinks and general goods. Proditor informed Debello that unlike Sith of previous generations, the Sith Order of Decreto, and the Dark Lord himself, believed that the Sith had to mingle with the local populations in order to improve relations, and limit resistance to Sith rule.
Acknowledging this, Debello begun his training as Proditor's apprentice, although he took lessons from various Sith teachers. He developed a strong skill in pyrokenesis, using it to great affect during his training, earning him the moniker 'Flame'.
Years passed before Debello began to form any serious skill with the lightsaber, preferring to rely on his skills in the Force instead. Yet, despite this, he proved a formidible opponent in lightsaber combat.
By the year 100 ABY Debello had progressed to the rank of Sith Knight, and in another ten, the rank of Sith Lord. Debello took Darth Krayt, an already fledgling Sith Knight as his own apprentice following the death of Krayt's previous master. Training him in the art of pyrokenesis, so that he could match Debello's own skill.
Successors War[]
Ten more years passed, and Debello, who had begun to assert his power in the Outer rim by this point, was one of the few Sith Lords who had expected Darth Proditor to make his move.
With the outbreak of war in 121 ABY Darth Debello pulled all of his forces back into the Outer rim, around the planet Ukio, and used the planets natrally hard-working labour force to aid his war effort.
Within a year, Debello slowly began to expand his power throughout the sector. Making sure to avoid the full glare of Darth Proditor's forces. By the year 126 ABY Debello finally believed himself ready to take on his former master, and invaded Proditor's realm at Klatooine. For months the two fought, although they never encountered one another in person.
Darth Debello, despite being numerically outnumbered made serious gains, and Proditor soon began to fear defeat. Determined not to lose the throne he had spent the last five years defending, Darth Proditor sent his closest ally to kill Debello; but before he could complete his mission, Debello was already dead, at the hands of his apprentice: Darth Krayt.
Post mortem[]
Following his death, Darth Debello's entire military resource fell into the hands of his apprentice, Darth Krayt. This included the services of those Sith Lords and Knights that Debello had defeated during the course of his campaign.
Debello's death also came as a relief, at first, for Darth Proditor, who expected Debello's apprentice to be nothing like his former master.
Personality and traits[]
Debello, having spent much of his early life on Ryloth, was a master of survival and a skilled hunter. He had a fascination for all things supernatural, such as the Floating Rock Gardens of Ryloth and often completely ignored any approaches made that would result in a scientific explanation.
Following his introduction to the Force, Debello focus his training on pyrokenesis, and proved a natural at the skill, far surpassing any of his Sith Masters. Debello was so skilled in the Force that it would be years before he took up serious training with a lightsaber, but nonetheless proved a skilled duelist.
