Daiba Jungle was a Rodian Jedi who served as the Padawan to Arla Downe and was a member of the Jungle Clan. She wielded an indigo lightsaber and possessed limited psychometry skills, very much like the Jedi Quinlan Vos or Boc Aseca, but on a much smaller scale. Most of the objects that Daiba read were close, personal objects.

Biography[]

Early life[]

Daiba was born on Rodia, in the city of Samana. She was the younger sister of Anoka Jungle, a non Force Sensitive Rodian. She defied the Rodian stereotypes of being violent and aggressive, in reality, she was very shy and quiet. She was discovered to be Force Sensitive at the age of six by the New Jedi Order and taken to the Jedi Praxeum on Yavin IV. While there, she trained under the watchful eye of Luke Skywalker. She became skilled in The Force and an average duellist. She was eventually picked to be the Padawan of Arla Downe, an Aleena Jedi Knight who had survived Order 66.

Training[]

Arla trained Daiba to hone her skills in The Force more than they already were. She also helped her to improve her duelling skills, which soon became incredible. However, Arla noted that Daiba's shyness was holding her back, and attempted to make her more outgoing. To help her teamworking skills, she and the members of Krakana Clan flew their Padawans to the planet of Kathol and left them there for a week to train. However, unbeknownst to them, a small group of Imperials were also there. When the Imperials discovered the Jedi, they attempted to hunt them down by using AT-ST/As. Eventually, the Padawans came up with a plan: They would gain help from the local Yapi population by having them raid the Imperials camp while the Jedi distracted them. While the Yapis were stealing the Imperials supplies, the Padawans managed to defeat the AT-ST/As by using their speed, agility and numbers. When their Masters came back, they were surprised to find their Padawans in the Imperial camp with four prisoners. The Imperials were sent to Coruscant for trial.

Yuuzhan Vong War[]

During the Yuuzhan Vong War, Daiba first saw combat during the Second Battle of Helska, where she manned an X-Wing and shot down several Coralskippers that were attacking the New Republic fleet. During the battle one of her X-Wing's S-foils was badly damaged, but other than that incident, she escaped the battle unharmed. She and her master were later sent to Birgis. During the Battle of Birgis, Daiba valiantly defended the spaceport and killed numerous Mandalorians, but was forced to retreat when their numbers became too great. She and her Master barely managed to escape the planet. Both of them were at Rychel when it came under siege by the Yuuzhan Vong. While Arla fought on the ground, Daiba was fighting from the cockpit of an X-Wing. She managed to vaporise a number of Yuuzhan Vong soldiers and Chazrach slaves, before being attacked by Tu-Scart. Although Daiba managed to shoot it several times, her shots had no affect on the creature's tough hide and she was forced to fly away from it. When it became apparent that the New Republic would not win, she picked up her Master and retreated with all the other New Republic soldiers. When the New Republic believed that Pedd 4 would be attacked by the Yuuzhan Vong forces, Daiba was then posted there. Unfortunatley, there never was any attack on Pedd 4, it had all been a trick to divert New Republic soldiers from New Holgha to Pedd 4 so that New Holgha would be vulnerable to attack. During the Battle of Garqi, Daiba and Arla were aboard the Bothan Assault Cruiser, the Ralroost. They were taken planetside, where they helped to repel the Yuuzhan Vong soldiers. After the Battle of Ithor, Daiba's fellow Padawan Azara Vlanc deserted the war and her brother, Zakon Vlanc recruited her to help him track her down and bring her back. Although Zakon lost Azara on Tatooine, Daiba and the other Padawans of Krakana Clan managed to corner her on Pii III. However, they severely underestimated Azara's skills and she easily beat all of them. Daiba fought alongside Navi Sykes, but both were defeated when Azara first kneened Navi in the face and then used The Force to send a rock hurling into Daiba's stomach. While she was winded, Azara took the opportunity to Force Push Daiba away. Azara managed to escape, and when Zakon arrived to discover this, he was furious. Daiba was present at the First Battle of Ord Mantell. However, she was so shocked at the sight of the Yuuzhan Vong Dread Weapon, that she nearly crashed into the side of a Uro-ik v'alh. She escaped the battle with minor damage. During the First Battle of Fondor, Daiba tried piloting a Miy'til assault bomber. She was taught to fly it by Iso Da'taa, the Padawan of Marruc Goss. While flying the craft, she severely damaged a A-vek Iiluunu and crippled a Uumufalh.

Second Year[]

Daiba was at the Battle of Kalarbra, where she piloited a Chiss Clawcraft. Daiba was impressed with the ship and commented on its effectiveness. When Daiba learned that the Yuuzhan Vong had invaded Rodia, Daiba was concerned for the safety of her brother, who she knew would have stayed on Rodia in case the Yuuzhan Vong did attack. Against the advice of her friends and Master, she travelled to Rodia using a stealth ship. She travelled to the ruins of a city, where she discovered her brother's vibrosword. Using her powers of psychometry, she was horrified to learn that he had been captured by Yuuzhan Vong shapers and mutated into a Vagh Rodiek, a horrific mutant creature bred for combat. This created a deep hatred for the Vong, and after the Battle of Rodia, Daiba started attacking the Yuuzhan Vong with a relentless, merciless fury, using her brother's vibrosword as well as her own lightsaber. Arla became concerned and forced Daiba to go to Teth to meditate and calm down, lest she succumb to the Dark Side. She returned during the First Battle of Duro, where she piloted her Clawcraft and fought alongside Dagger-D police ships. She managed to destroy three fire breathers during the battle, as well as severely wound a rakamat. After Warmaster Tsavong Lah offered to make peace with the galaxy in return for the extermination of the Jedi, Daiba expressed disbelief that the various inhabitants of the galaxy would betray them. Arla however, realized the seriousness of the offer and warned Daiba that the galaxy had suddenly become a much more dangerous place for the Jedi. During the Battle of the Jedi Praxeum, Daiba and Arla were called back to Yavin IV in order to protect the Praxeum from the Peace Brigade and the Yuuzhan Vong warriors.

Third year[]

I always thought that Coruscant would be eternal. Now I see that I was wrong. Nothing is eternal, nothing at all.
—Daiba Jungle after the Battle of Coruscant

Using The Force, Daiba managed to find her brother while he was on a Worldship. She and a small team of Jedi managed to get aboard the Worldship while New Republic forces attacked the surrounding fleet. While in the Worldship, the Jedi began liberating slaves. Although at first confronted with a savage Vagh Rodiek, Daiba managed to use The Force to recover Anoka's mind. Now a rational and sane being, he helped the Jedi and the slaves to escape from the Worldship and get to safety. Daiba and Arla were later sent to the Battle of Talfaglio, where they heroically fought against the Yuuzhan Vong forces by directing shadow bombs into enemy craft. She was also present for the Battle of Eclipse, where she piloted her Clawcraft against the Vong fleet.During the battle, she was attacked by several Grutchins, who swarmed her ship. Luckily for her, Keith Iijari saw that she was in danger, and used the Force to crush each grutchin individually. Both Daiba and Keith were also at the Battle of the Black Bantha, were the combined their skills to destroy dozens of Vong coralskippers. During the Battle of Coruscant, Daiba was one of many Jedi that valiantly attempted to defend Coruscant from invading Yuuzhan Vong forces. As the days went by, Daiba managed to slay hundreds of Yuuzhan Vong and Chazrach soldiers, until it became apparent that even with the Vong's incredible losses, they would still be able to conquer Coruscant. Keith Iijari managed to evacuate a number of Jedi, Daiba included, on his ship, the Darkstar. Daiba and Arla were later present for the Second Battle of Borleias, where they initially fired Jedi shadow bombs into the enemy’s ships. However, this was short lasted, as the ship they were on took heavy fire. Daiba, Arla and a handful of others managed to reach an escape pod and managed to land safely on the planet's surface. They managed to reach the New Republic base before the bulk Yuuzhan Vong arrived on the planet. They helped to defend the Alderaan Biotics facility, but were soon surrounded. Luckily for them, Operation Emperor's Hammer was placed under effect and the Yuuzhan Vong temporarily retreated. When Wedge Antilles ordered the evacuation of the planet, Daiba and Arla were some of the last remaining troops to be evacuated. They held off evacuating for as long as they could to allow others to safely get offworld. Daiba witnessed Antilles' piloting skills while he was defending the evacuees and marvelled on at his incredible skill.

Fourth year[]

Daiba and the other Padawans of the members Krakana Clan were present at the Second Battle of Obroa-skai. All of the Padawans and their Masters participated in the battle, saved Takaris Gold, who was commanding his ship, the Krakana. Daiba once again piloted a Miy'til bomber and used it to great effect. She effortlessly shot down dozens of uncoordinated coralskippers. Along with her fellow Padawans, she mounted an assault on a Yuuzhan Vong frigate. With their combined efforts, they managed to destroy the bridge of the ship, killing the crew stationed there. They all managed to escape the battle completely unscathed. Daiba was later sent to the Second Battle of Ylesia, where she joined the ground troops in their attack of Peace City. Arla, feeling that Daibe needed more combat training, sent Daiba to the Second Battle of Gyndine, where she participated in the Force meld, which resulted in the annihilation of the enemy. Daiba and her master were later present for the Battle of Ebaq 9, the battle that served as the turning point in the war. Although not present in the early stages of the battle, Daiba's ship reached Ebaq 9 when the final stages of the trap went underway. They used shadow bombs to destroy a number of Yuuzhan Vong ships, devastating the enemies forces. When the enemy began landing on the moon's surface, Daiba flew an A-wing to reinforce those already on the moon, including her friends Mazer Doneeta and Togl Darko. All three witnessed the explosion that claimed the Blood Sacrifice, and rejoiced when they head that Warmaster Tsavong Lah had been killed in battle with Jacen Solo.
