Cuddles was an acklay Sithspawn created by Kai Latra. Cuddles had three heads, and a body accordingly longer, broader, and stronger to bear the extra weight. Cuddles could also spit acid from at least one of its heads, and had skin strong enough to resist blasterfire and even lightsaber blades.
Kai Latra kept Cuddles in the Palace of Happiness as a door guard to protect the deepest recesses of the castle, which housed Latra's dark side sanctum. He fed wild animals and occasional prisoners to the acklay, which treated him with affection and learned not to harm Ugor either. Latra connected an underground lake to Cuddles's chamber, allowing the acklay to swim at leisure.
In 1,386 BBY, the escaped Jedi Padawans Aldayr Nikodon and Narasi Rican briefly encountered Cuddles, but fled when the acklay spat acid at them. Shortly thereafter, Tirien Kal-Di and Darth Alecto infiltrated Cuddles's chamber from below. Failing to sneak past the acklay, they fought instead, though their weapons did little to harm Cuddles. Eventually they got past the Sithspawn when Alecto stunned it with a grenade; even this did not pierce Cuddles's shell, though the acklay was left disoriented by the blast.
