The True Covenant, also known as the Covenant of the Purifying Light, was formed from the Jedi organization formed by Lucien Draay with the same name after the collapse of his mother Krynda Draay's Jedi Covenant in 3963 BBY.

For over three thousand years, the Covenant gradually deviated from its Jedi roots, abandoning the Jedi Code and adopting a philosophy centered on the complete suppression of the dark side of the Force by exterminating any darksider. It began operating as a militaristic monastic organization aimed at purifying the galaxy.

History[]

The Jedi Covenant, the predecessor organization of the first True Covenant, was founded to seek and destroy any potential or active Sith in order to prevent incidents which were similar to Exar Kun's fall to the dark side. After the untimely dissolution of his mother's Jedi Covenant, Lucien Draay reformed the organization into the first True Covenant. It was unknown what else happened to it after a series of incidents on conflicts which it was involved with.

Three thousand years later, the second True Covenant was formed in response to the emerging Great Peace of the Republic to ensure that no Sith would rise again.

Organization[]

The overall leadership of the Covenant was under the title and position of Chief Marshal who typically served for life. Under the Chief Marshal were Covenant Marshals who led their own assigned divisions, branches or units.

A Watch Circle was formed during times of need or when changes were needed for the organization. Seven people were chosen to become Seers for the Circle and an Executor to lead them. Watch Circles could be made for various tasks and functions and they did not last for long.

All full-pledged members of the Covenant were called Purifiers and were assigned with the position of Paladin. They were tasked with the investigation and elimination of any darksider, especially Sith and their cultists. A new recruit was referred to as a Page and one who was undergoing training was referred to as a Squire. Non-Force-sensitive members were referred to as Lancers, indoctrinated under the light side of the Force while retaining the typical aspects of military soldiers, armed with blasters and proper equipment.

Beliefs[]

The beliefs and procedural guidelines of the True Covenant were all codified into the The Hammer of Bogan with the basic provisions outlined below:

1. Foremost, outlaws all darksiders.

2. Sets requirement standards for darksider identification.

3. Outlines procedures of a confirmed darksider.

4. Includes prosecution conduct.

5. Defines the disciple duties of the True Covenant.

6. Adds the protocols of punishment for other party involvement.

The provisions end with a phrase:

"Peace through purity is valuable above all else, and members of the Covenant of the Purifying Light shall spare no effort in its preservation."
