The Coup of Coruscant, in 130 ABY, was a coup in which Sith Lord Darth Krayt and his Sith Order attempted to overthrow Emperor Roan Fel of the Fel Empire, at the Imperial Palace on Coruscant. Taking place right after the surrender of the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances, marking the end of the Imperial-Sith War, Krayt ended up killing a double, and several Imperial Knights. The real Emperor Fel survived and escaped to Bastion. Krayt claimed the throne, becoming the Galactic Emperor. Meanwhile, Fel and his loyalists formed the Empire-in-exile, engaging Darth Krayt's Galactic Empire. Another problem was the Galactic Alliance Core Fleet, which escaped and formed the Galactic Alliance Remnant. It marked the beginning of the galaxy-wide Second Imperial Civil War.
