Coruscanti (Corosi, Korisans, or Sans) was an extinct language once spoken among the inhabitants of Coruscant (Coros, Koris, or Kor). While it was extinct in modern times, it shared similarities with the Mando'a language spoken in and around the Mandalore sector, as both languages evolved from Proto-Corusca. The last communities on Coruscant to speak Late Coruscanti died out c. 1250 BBY. Coruscanti used two different writing systems: Proto-Corusca script (from which the modern Mando'a script developed) and Early Aurebesh (which developed in around 10000 BBY from foreign Human civilizations). Old Coruscanti, Old Corellian, Old Alderaanian, and Latin were the parent languages of Middle Basic, which then developed into Galactic Basic Standard, the galaxy's franca lingua and the Galactic Republic's official language. There were a few dozen creoles and distinct dialects of Coruscanti in other parts of the galaxy settled by Coruscanti colonists and traders that continued to be spoken into the modern era. These modern dialects were sometimes known collectively as Sans.

The Coruscanti languages, having existed nearly thirty millennia, saw many different vocabulary and alphabetic developments. These included (excluding creoles, dialects, accents, and daughter languages):

  • Proto-Corusca, spoken prior to c. 26000 BBY
  • Archaic Coruscanti, spoken from c. 26000 BBY to c. 22000 BBY
  • Old Coruscanti, spoken from c. 22000 BBY to c. 10000 BBY
  • Middle Coruscanti, spoken from c. 10000 BBY to c. 4000 BBY
  • Late Coruscanti, spoken from c. 4000 BBY to c. 1250 BBY (variants of Old and Late Coruscanti still spoken on dozens of colony worlds into the modern era)
