This, is CNN.
—Darth Vader's introduction
The Coruscant News Network, commonly shortened to CNN, was the news network of the Galactic Republic and, later, the Galactic Empire. It was anchored by holovid personality Nem Bocaj. The network promised to be "the galaxywide leader in news," but during the reign of the Empire the news was filtered to portray them in a positive light. During the Liberation of Coruscant in 6 ABY, the station was bombed, killing everyone inside.
The Coruscant News Network was launched in 40 BBY. The news broadcast was aired at 5:00 dark CST and then later at 11:00 dark CST. By 35 BBY, the broadcast was expanded to also air in the light hours. The series became a galaxywide name when it aired the first footage of the Battle of Geonosis of the Clone Wars in 22 BBY. When the Republic transformed into an empire in 19 BBY, CNN's focus shifted from telling the truth to making sure that the Empire's actions were always portrayed in a positive light.
During the Liberation of Coruscant in 6 ABY, CNN broadcast false information across the galaxy that the Alliance to Restore the Republic was losing the battle. Rebel forces bombed the station and killed everyone inside.

The Coruscant News Network was an integral part of Republic and Imperial society. It provided the public with information of not only the planet, but the galaxy at large. This was important during the Clone Wars in order for the Republic to help portray the Confederacy of Independent Systems as an enemy. During the reign of the Empire, their focus was shifted to the Rebel Alliance while keeping the Empire in a positive light. This bias attributed to their downfall during the waning days of the Empire.
The Senate Building attack
By the Force they just crashed a second transport into the southern complex!
—Nem Bocaj as a second transport crashed into the Senate Building
Sometime around 0 ABY, a former Separatist commando group by the name of Steel Torrent attacked the Senate Building by hijacking a passenger transport and crashing into it. CNN was the first to cover the attack and initially reported it as an accident but later placed the blame on the Alliance to Restore the Republic. After the attacks, Emperor Palpatine disbanded the Senate live on CNN.
The "Beachtrooper" controversy
In 3 ABY, CNN released footage of a party on the planet Feriae that involved the members of the Galactic Guard. Nem Bocaj blamed Echon Tarkin, leader of the Guard, for the event and coined the name "Beachtroopers" for the disgraced regiment. This coverage forced the Galactic Guard into combat situations around the galaxy.
