The Coruscant Guard, later also known as the Imperial Guard or the Elite Stormtroopers, was an elite unit of the Grand Army of the Republic that defended Coruscant, the Republic capital, alongside with the Coruscant Security Force. It was commanded by clone commanders Fox and Thire, and CC-3636. They fought in many battles on Coruscant and arrested many criminals. They worked with the 52nd Star Corps, who used armor that looked like the same as theirs. They were founded by Jedi Master Eeth Koth. Ironically, they were the ones who killed him in Order 66. Their new Jedi General during the rest of the Clone Wars was Na' Aang. Later, during the time of the New Galactic Empire Typhuss was in command of the Coruscant Guard.

History[]
Formation[]

Clone Commander Fox during the Clone Wars.
The Coruscant Guard was formed around 22 BBY. Clone troopers of the CG were mostly from the moon of Coruscant, Centax 2, but clones from Kamino got special training at Centax Cloning Complex for Coruscant work. Clone Commander Fox was given the position of commanding this unit, because he knew the streets of Coruscant well.
Clone Wars[]

The unit mostly stayed on Coruscant during the Clone Wars, fighting criminals, but they did do some work on other worlds. They also participated in a hostage crisis, where a bounty hunter broke into the Senate Building and took hostages, but released the captured senators after a criminal leader, Ziro the Hutt, was released in exchange. They also patrolled Coruscant's badlands, a uninhabited area, except for tons of criminals. They were later in Order 66.
Galactic Civil War[]
After Order 66, they left Coruscant only a few times. One such time was when a clone trooper strike force led by Fox followed two 52nd Star Corps troopers to Ando Prime, where they attacked the Brotherhood of Loyalists outpost, and captured CC-2009, who had betray the Empire. Later, they stayed on Coruscant and Centax 2, and traveled to several other Deep Core and Core worlds.
Confederation of Free Planets[]
During the reign of the Confederation of Free Planets, the Coruscant Guard saw much more action and were stretched thin and sent to different planets. Fox began losing his best troops for pointless campaigns. During the Fourth Jedi Purge and Order 66, the Coruscant Guard was one of the many legions sent to the Jedi Temple. Many clones were killed that day. They were later forced to become part of the New Galactic Empire after it replaced the CFP.
New Galactic Empire[]
Under the New Galactic Empire, they saw more action than before. There was a lot more war going on. Later Typhuss was put in command of the Coruscant Guard by the Emperor.
