Coruscant (pronounced /'kɔɹəsɑnt/), originally known as Notron, was a terrestrial planet and ecumenopolis located in the Core Worlds. It was the homeworld of the Taung and also generally accepted as the homeworld of the Human species.
During most of galactic history, Coruscant was the most politically influential and important world in the galaxy. During its history it served as the capital of the Galactic Republic, the Galactic Commonwealth and the Galactic Empire. Coruscant was also the capital of the Republic of Coruscant, the state which ruled the Coruscant system. With a population of at least 100 trillion, Coruscant was one of the most dominant and influential worlds in the Galactic Senate. Coruscant was one of the original 28 Core Founders and was a member of the Eminent Eight, an informal grouping of planets which dominated the Galactic Republic.
It was the homeworld of many important figures in galactic history such as Concordia Conditor, Caspian Zavarai, Connor Zavarai, Talarene Reallix, Elin Garza, Tarsus Valorum, Finis Valorum and Qui-Gon Jinn.
