Corporal was a rank in many military forces throughout the galaxy, such as the Republic Army, the Republic Marines, the Grand Army of the Republic and the Imperial Army. The first non-commissioned officer rank, corporals typically led small detachments of three or four soldiers.
Within the Republic Marines, the rank was preceded by Lance Corporal. Within all services that used the rank of Corporal, it was then proceeded in grade by Sergeant
