Force Exile: Convergence is a novel within the Force Exile Series written by Atarumaster88 and is the twelfth overall work of the Force Exile Series. Set hundreds of years after the previous Force Exile works, Convergence and its sequel works are the conclusion of the series.
Welcome, my friend, to a galaxy far, far away. Enter the realm of Jedi and bounty hunters, soldiers and droids, rulers and beggars, alien and human. From Stackpole’s Corellians to Traviss's Mandalorians, come to a universe with the exotica of Zahn, the wit of Allston, the grimness of Stover, the daring of Ostrander, the imagery of Luceno, the detail of Wallace, and most importantly, the vision of George Lucas, to whom we owe it all. And if you listen close enough, you’ll hear the sweet sounds of John Williams’ score in the background. Welcome to Star Wars.
Hundreds of years after the Rebellion emerged victorious over the Empire, the galaxy has once again plunged into chaos. Fractious infighting led to an abandonment of a central government while relentless hordes of automatons known as the Grasp raid and subjugate freely. Worse of all, the Jedi Knights are extinct. Under these bleak circumstances, it seems that hope's flame has been extinguished. Yet there remains a chance that clues of the past, buried, hidden, and forgotten, will provide the sparks needed to once again restore peace and justice to the galaxy.
His eye wandered out over his circle of friends to catch a tall, lithe young woman sauntering by. She made even a dress uniform, a military tailor’s best attempt to stamp governmental uniformity and repressible elegance on every wearer, look stunning. A smile tugged at the corner of his mouth as he reflected how lucky he was to have her in his life. Ntani Anselam—Ensign Ntani Anselam—had been his girl for eighteen months now. He had had no idea how alive someone could be until that brown-haired captain of the slingball team had entered his life in a whirlwind of cadet romance, late nights talking of futures and loves, and a riot of activity. Ntani was always in motion. Even her brown eyes rarely were still, bouncing from sight to sight, unless something truly captured her attention.
The lieutenant smiled at her and waved her over. She flashed him a dazzling smile of her own in response and was almost to his circle of friends when there was a low boom that rippled through the hall. The lieutenant froze as the entire station rumbled, causing the meniscus of his claret to bob erratically. His stomach lurched as he realized what was happening. Only something truly momentous could have such a tangible impact on the cavernous orbital station that hung over the planet of Corellia in silent vigilance. The lieutenant looked up through the transparisteel viewport, dread filling him as he saw, headed straight toward them, the knifelike shapes of the oncoming fleet decanting from hyperspace.

Behind the scenes
The work that came to be Convergence underwent significant changes before Atarumaster88 ended up writing it. Initial concepts were for a work set in the distant future of the galaxy far, far away, well after any known canonical sources. The work would take place on a galactic scale, with characters seeking to use clues from the past to stop a dark threat. Dangling plot threads from previous novels would be concluded as well, finishing off the series. However, Atarumaster88 initially conceived it as a choose-your-adventure book, with branching paths that allowed the reader to choose their appropriate path and progression, even to the point of being able to follow two different characters. The difficulty of keeping track and writing such a heavily branched narrative was sufficiently daunting that Atarumaster88 only wrote one or two segments, which included a male protagonist named Jeohan. The work was shelved, as Atarumaster88 had no solid ideas for the story after finishing Prodigal.
The work was foreshadowed as early as 2008, as the in-universe author of the Essential Guide to Force Exile, Dr. Nihyal Ostrada, was intended to make an appearance in a conclusionary work. She has since been included in the novel, resulting in minor updates to her information included as part of the Appendix of The Essential Guide to Force Exile.
In June 2018, after being appropriately inspired by reading several adventure series, including Eragon and several Clive Cussler novels, Atarumaster88 decided to make another attempt. The choose-your-adventure concept was discarded, reverting to a standard novel format. The story arcs, characters, and settings were planned out over the course of two days in June 2018. Writing began shortly thereafter. By May 2019, the first act of the novel was drafted, at 20 chapters and 50,000 words in length. Atarumaster88 continued working on the novel, finishing 50 chapters by May 2020. At that point, he chose to end the work there. While he had originally meant to write one large novel to conclude the series, the first 50 chapters reached a satisfactory conclusion for a single work despite having many more plot threads to write. Choosing to end the work there, Convergence in its completed state contained 114,700 words, and at least one sequel work was planned.
Unlike most other entries in the Force Exile Series, Atarumaster88 made the cover for Convergence himself in Paint.NET with the assistance of his wife. To create the characters, he used the character creator in the MMORPG Star Trek Online due to its broad customization options for humanoid faces. Depicted on the cover are Corian, Jhiranae, and Lord Tierno.
