The Contender was a Republic-class battle ship used by the Republic during the Clone Wars. It was later destroyed by Federal Hand.
History[]
During the clone wars, the Contender was commanded by Jedi master Plo Koon during the time of war. Master Koon used this ship during the battle of Coruscant to help try to rescue the chancellor, but the ship Federal Hand attacked it before it could do anything. The two ships waged a massive battle with one another, each taking heavy damage. Sadly Master Koon saw that Federal Hand was too powerful for them and informed the crew that they had to escape. The clones could see that the Jedi was right, their shields were destroyed and they were next. As master Koon escaped the clone's got to the escape pods, but a handful of the crew stayed to buy some time. As the Jedi and the clone's escaped, Contender was destroyed by a massive attack on the bridge.
