The Constitution of the Galactic Republic was the founding charter document of the Galactic Republic and the basis of all laws within it. The Constitution was written somewhere around 25,000 BBY, and one of the first signers of the document was Jonathan Bac, who was elected Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic shortly thereafter.

We the sentients of the Galactic Republic, in order to form a more perfect union of worlds, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare and secure the blessings of liberty and the rights of sentients to our selves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution of the Galactic Republic.
