The Confederate League of Xantika, usually shortened to the Xantian League, was the official unified interstellar government of the Xantian race following the unification of the Pre-Confederate Xantian States around approximately ~23,000 BBY. It was a member of the Diet of the Ethereal Demesnes, as one of the top ten Democratic Demesnes.
Prior to the disappearance of the Ethereal Empire, Xantika had been a protectorate world. In fact, it was one of the more successful protectorate efforts by the Ethereal Family's government, achieving full colonization of their home star system not long before the Ethereal Empire disappeared. However, when the Empire ceased communication with them, the Xantians in time fell into civil war, waging war across the Xantika System. In time, though, the Union of Kelea, another former protectorate world, was granted authority by the Diet to intervene and attempt mediation.
After a lengthy period of negotiations under a tense ceasefire, the Confederate League was formed, unifying the Xantika System and most of the Xantian race under one state, which soon joined the Diet. Nevertheless, Xantika remained one of the more volatile, aggressive Demesnes, a regular participant in the region's internal conflicts, and a proud supporter of the Demesne Defense Forces. At virtually every occasion a threat from outsiders was perceived, Xantika was one of the first members of the Diet to call for an aggressive response.
This pattern existed throughout history; the Demesnes' wars against the Sith, the war against the Confederacy of Independent Systems, the resistance effort by some Demesnes against the Galactic Empire, the war against the Yuuzhan Vong, the Second Galactic Civil War, even as far as the Second Imperial Civil War Xantika virtually always pursued a policy of intervention whenever the Diet would allow it.
