Early history[]
On Utapau, Grievous had ordered the old Confederacy to hide on Mustafar. Viceroy Nute Gunray did not trust Grievous. He stumbled across a recording of Darth Sidious saying Nute and the others were going to die. Nute warned the others not to go. They agreed and thought up a master plan.

A master plan[]
Nute Gunray told his companions to take their aides, sans Rune Haako, and dress them up like them. However San Hill, Poggle the Lesser, and Tikks had no comparisons so they had to sacrifice their freedom. The survivors included Nute Gunray, Rune Haako, Wat Tambor, Shu Mai, and Passel Argente, Rune Haako (CISE) lived to fight another day.
Mission to Mustafar[]
On Mustafar, Rute Gunnay, disguised as Nute, led the operation. When Anakin Skywalker arrived, the imposters were killed in the following order: Denaria Kee, Cat Miin, Po Nudo's aides, Wat Tambor's aide, Rute Gunnay and Lott Dod, and even San Hill and Poggle the Lesser who had no fakes.
New Confederacy[]
After the plan worked, the Separatist Leaders went to Mon Calamari to form a new leadership. They started with Viceroy Aneem and then to Foop Sr., Lowtek, Utaalk, Luam Yar Rekrap, Rogur Ceel, Ree-Sees, Fissam the Lesser, Hoj Azwoy, and Rune Haako's brother Auhkem Haako.
Protection[]
Since their droid armies had been deactivated, Viceroy Aneem hired new protection. Bnun Nein organized some new recruits and the CISE went on to try to succeed.
Betrayal[]
In 43 ABY the CISE's long rule came to an end when Commando Danny became the apprentice of Darth Ch'Okx. At the time, Nute Gunray and the old members of the original Confederacy had retired. Aneem was in charge of the CISE. The Second Mission to Mustafar had occurred. Danny killed all but Aneem and his droid M94-RA-7 who escaped in a shuttle flown by Nemo Gunnay, the brother of Rute Gunnay. Gunray was informed of this but did not do anything to this.
Reorganization[]
In 45 BBY, the CISE was once again reorganized by an aged Aneem before passing away. Nute Gunray had passed away along with the original leaders during the CISE's years. He had decided to give Nemo Gunnay responsibility.
