Clone Assassins were an elite Clone trooper unit in the Grand Army of the Republic and later the Imperial Army. These troopers were created by order of Supreme Chancellor Palpatine shortly before Order 66. Clone assassins were used against the battle droids of the Confederacy of Independent Systems only a few times, which were all victories. Still, the Jedi Council members frowned at this new elite unit because they felt a tremor in the Force about Palpatine.
A few days later, the Jedi Council was right when the Clone assassins, with the ability to resist Jedi mind tricks, attacked the temple, along with the 501st Legion, the 101st Legion, and the short lived 90th Division, which were wiped out by the Jedi in the first minutes of the battle. These units were ordered to guard the beacon, which told every Jedi to come back to the Temple, from Jedi. But they failed when Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi came and killed half of them.

Clone Assassins used mostly melee weapons, except for the sharpshooting squadron. Most assassins used two vibroblades, which could resist lightsabers, to attack Jedi and other opponents. Many carried thermal detonators to blow up things in their way. All assassins, regular and sharpshooters alike, were trained to use Teräs Käsi, a form of unarmed combat. With all of this equipment, many were still killed by Jedi.
