Ciera Major was a terrestrial Mid Rim world in the Jalor sector. One of the only three habitable planets in the Ciera system, the planet was colonised prior to 35 BBY by Cyber colonists. The planet promptly became an agricultural colony of Cybe and the site of minor Cybe Drives ship production.

Between 27 BBY and 23 BBY, separatism steadily increased, which reached its boiling point in the final months of 23 BBY, resulting in its defection to the Vianden Exchange Association and then finally, the Confederacy. However, a Republic fleet under the command of rear admiral Norven Loyaler secured the planet in the final days of the Clone Wars.

Ciera Major crisis

By 27 BBY, Cybe had come to neglect its most distant colony, steadily collecting taxes and other wares produced but paying little attention to security and safety. This gave way to a rising desire of independence and, eventually, separatism. This steadily increased for the coming four years, as outside separatist elements also flocked to the planet.

Taking note and becoming wary, and with the Cybe Sector Defense Forces incapable of protecting the planet, the Cybe Colonial Administration, or the CCA, instead hired a private contractor, a mercenary group dubbed the Crimson Legion, to protect the colony in early 24 BBY. However, the CCA became steadily more corrupt as separatism grew over the coming months and had began to infiltrate the CCA, which resulted in the Crimson Legion becoming rogue. At this point, Cybe had effectively lost control of its colony.

In early 23 BBY, both the InterGalactic Banking Clan and the Vianden Exchange Association took an interest in the planet, and both managed to establish offices planetside. This resulted in a series of skirmishes and rapidly increasing unrest, all while Cybe and the Galactic Republic continued to lose their grip on the planet, until finally Aradani senator Arthorus Evora managed to sway the Galactic Senate into sending a small force, and numerous members of the Judicial Forces, under directive of captain Erruouf Azimuth were dispatched.
