Carlac, sometimes referred to as the Shattered one, was a once-peaceful remote snow-covered world in the Outer Rim Territories inhabited by the primtive and ancient people of the Ming Po.

During the Clone Wars, Carlac became home to a sect of Mandalorians known as the Death Watch who consistently harassed the native people, stealing their food and resources. It wouldn't be until the Battle over Carlac, led by Plo Koon and Kanaco Tai Meridian, that the Death Watch would retreat from the planet— finally leaving the Ming Po in peace. At least until the Great Cataclysm

Behind the scenes[]

Early on, the real-world planet of Enceladus served as a core starting point for what would end up being Carlac after the author decided to discard the preceding drafts of a story similar to The Event Horizon that wasn't set in the Star Wars universe. The author considered merging the role Carlac had in the story with Concord Dawn (primarily), Mygeeto and Criton's Point instead for the sake of having more time to explore each planet featured in the author's work.
