The Carbonite Inspection Act was passed by the Imperial Senate after an Alderaanian Resistance agent was smuggled out of the Brentaal system encased in carbonite. The Act required Imperial Customs officers to perform time-costly, painstaking inspections of all carbonite shipments. It also increased carbonite import tariffs throughout the Empire.
