This article is about the carbon-eye device. You may be looking for the villain CarbonEye, or the CarbonEye RPG.

The carbon-eye was a synthetic cybernetic device that could be implanted into a living being and used as a weapon as well as a regular eyeball.

Production[]

When Urma Boont brought the injured Pots Putnyocus to SMERSH in 42 BBY, the criminal organization ordered Dr. Noah to fix him up with cybernetics. So Dr. Noah got to work on a synthetic eye made from carbon.

He built a miniature rotating electromagnetic generator into the center of the spherical device that would create a small electromagnetic field which could then be manipulated by the wielder. The synthetic nerve endings connected into the brain to allow the wielder to control the field giving them extra "super powers" that normal beings wouldn't have had.

As the wielder started the device, the rotating generator began spinning around the synthetic hyaloid artery, similar to blades in a fan. With the generator spinning, an electromagnetic field was created, allowing the wielder to control it how he or she pleased.

A quick flash of red light was emitted from the eye whenever the rotating generator starts or stops.

Functions[]

Dr. Noah created the carbon-eye to allow the wielder numerous possibilities in combat.

Sight[]

It not only could be used as a weapon, but also would give the wielder perfect 20x20 vision through the carbon-eye.

Electromagnetic pulse[]

The wielder could manipulate the field and force an electromagnetic pulse which would disable any sort of machinery within a few hundred feet, excluding itself. It could temporarily disable anything mechanical or electrical, such as droids, computers, communicators and even lightsabers.

Force field[]

It could also be used to create a personal force field for the wielder. It would project a sphere around the wielder that was seven feet in diameter (similar to that of a Droideka), allowing for a defensive action in combat.

Lightning blasts[]

The electromagnetic field could be manipulated to interact with the EM field of a planet and its atmosphere, allowing the wielder to shoot lightning bolts from the eye. The bolt came out red due to the color of the carbon-eye.

Invisibility[]

Similar to the lightning blasts, the field could be manipulated to interact with the EM field of the planet's atmosphere and distort light, allowing the wielder to "disappear" from sight. The wielder would still be there in space, but would be invisible to the naked eye.

History[]

Pots-carboneye

In 42 BBY, Pots Putnyocus was the first and only being to use this incredible technology. He used the invisibility power to infiltrate Jabba the Hutt's palace, Cotati's Blueprints, and the Czerka warehouse undetected. He also used the lightning to break into Jabba's treasure room.

Later, in an on-going battle with the Secret Galactic Intelligence Service, Pots used the invisibility to sneak in and out of the battle on Mytus VII as well as used the force field to deflect blaster bolt and lightsaber blades. But the field was shorted out when it was hit by an ion cannon from a ship in the upper atmosphere. So Pots had Dr. Noah repair it for the coming battle on Manaan.

Pots first used the EMP power in Ahto City to ambush the MI5 agents there. He disabled the lights to plunge the room into darkness. And during the battle on his underwater fortress Octopus, before his own death, he used the lightning and force field to kill MI5 agent Hawk.

After Pots' death, MI5's Q'u Branch acquired the carbon-eye device. The department used the invisibility technology to create the Invisi-Belt.

Behind the scenes[]

The synthetic carbon-eye was created by Star Wars... 007 Style series creator Dubya Scott. The synthetic eye and it's powers were based on the main playable characters "goldeneye" powers from the video game GoldenEye: Rogue Agent.
