Cail's fleet was the common appellation, by enemies and allies alike, of the warships often found under the direct command of Grand Moff-turned Imperial Warlord Balmus Cail after the collapse and splintering of the Galactic Empire in 4 ABY. Though the size and exact composition of the fleet varied greatly over the years, it was largely composed of various fighters, corvettes, frigates, and capital ships, all of which were crewed by highly-experienced sailors extremely loyal to Cail. They served under him throughout his many campaigns against the other Imperial warlords during the Imperial Civil War and his conquests in the Galactic Civil War. The most experienced, trusted, and revered officers and crews of the fleet served under him as early as 4 BBY, during the Nimban Crisis and the Battle of Nimban, and even earlier. It is known that Captain Cander Thelcar, commander of the Imperial-class Star Destroyer Warlord, had served alongside Cail in his years of service during the Clone Wars, as early as 20 BBY.
During the Imperial Civil War, Cail's fleet made up the most experienced of all fleets and warships that served in the Coalition. The fleet played a critical role in establishing Cail's position as one of the strongest Imperial warlords at the outset of the Civil War, playing a critical role in the Six Campaigns of the Expansion Region that nearly quadrupled the number of systems under Cail's control. At the Battle of Loronar, the fleet made up the bulk of Coalition forces present. The fleet was prominent in galactic news for the remainder of the war, ensuring the decisive victory during the Taris Campaign, and taking part in the final Battle of Coruscant in 9 ABY. After the war, Warlord Val Trallus, Cail's most skilled enemy-turned-ally, remarked, "Those handful of ships that served Cail all of those years is the only reason he brought the other warlords to heel." They went on to play a highly prominent role in the evolving and expanding Galactic Civil War after Cail's victory against the Grand Imperial Alliance.
