CC-9598 also known as Jiether, was a Clone ARC Commander serving in the Grand Army of the Republic tasked with leading the 623rd Battle Regiment during the Clone Wars.[2]
Biography[]
Clone Wars[]
First Battle of Geonosis[]
Lieutenant, I need you to do what you can to turn the tide of this battle. I’m with the senator right now and we are heading for the Geonosian Command Center. If you can, meet us there.
—CT-9598 to CT-1899 during the Battle of Geonosis.

Commander Jiether finds Padmé Amidala after falling from the gunship.
Jiether was one of the first clones deployed at the First Battle of Geonosis. During the battle, he ordered clone lieutenant CT-1899 to secure a position for the forward command center. Meanwhile, he aided the Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker in their pursuit of Count Dooku. However, their ship came under enemy fire, which caused him and Senator Padmé Amidala to fall off the transport. After finding the senator nearby, She urged the commander to find troops and lead them to the Geonosian Command Center.[2]
Battle of Teth[]
Captain Tresherslider, you have been called upon to join the 501st on a mission to the planet Teth. The orders came from Captain Rex on behalf of General Skywalker.
—Commander Jiether to Jack Tresherslider.
Sometime later, Jiether informed Captain Jack Tresherslider that he had been temporarily reassigned to the 501st Legion to assist them in locating Jabba the Hutt's lost son.[2]
Mission to Naboo[]
Your reassignment orders, sir. Directly from the Office of the Supreme Chancellor.
—Commander Jiether to Jack Tresherslider.
Following the captain’s return from Teth, he had once again received reassignment orders for Tresherslider on behalf of Chancellor Palpatine. Jiether then assisted Jack by helping him select troops to form a team and accompany him on the Mission to Naboo.[2]
Battle of Cato Neimoidia[]
Near the end of the war, Jiether took part in the Battle of Cato Neimoidia. During the battle, he worked with General Davian Griffo and led the 442nd Siege Battalion to capture the bridge cities across the planet. Meanwhile, Plo Koon led clone pilots and fought for control of the planet’s airspace.[3]
End of the War[]
Order 66[]
As the battle progressed, General Griffo found a report on clone trooper CT-5555 and the inhibitor chips as he looked throughout the Republic Military Database. Horrified by the details of the report, the general took Jiether to a medical bay to have the chip removed. However, after the procedure was finished Order 66 was enacted; causing all clones to turn on the general. A brief shootout erupted, but the general was ultimately killed and Jiether escaped. However, he killed Tracker in the process.[3]
After fleeing the command center, the commander made his way to the landing platform. There, he saw C9-K3 in a speeder. The clone then joined the astromech on the rescue of his master. Jiether flew the speeder towards the Separatist command center, where he saw the captain as he jumped out the window. Acting quickly, Jiether positioned the speeder so Captain Tresherslider could land safely. After saving the captain, Tresherslider expressed confusion over the situation, explaining how he witnessed Plo Koon's death and that the clones had turned against him. In return, Jiether explained the purpose of the control chips and told him about the General Griffo's fate.[3]
Jiether then flew the speeder to a command post in the planet's lower city. When they arrived, the place was guarded several by clones who spotted them. Jack pleaded with them to drop their weapons, as he didn't want to hurt them. However, they only responded by shooting at the trio. Having no other choice, both men killed them which left Jack distraught. But Jiether reminded him that the “real clones” were gone. Meanwhile, C9 plugged into central computer and told his master that ships were located at the main base in the upper city. [3]
Before they traveled to the base, the trio stopped by a warehouse owned by the Separatist Alliance. Upon discovering that it was a battle droid factory, Jack asked C9 if he could get the place operational again; to which C9 and the commander questioned why. Jack told them that the battle droids would distract the clones and give them a chance to escape. With this mind, C9 started the factory and the two watched as the droids marched off the assembly line and head straight for the base. As the three left the factory, they were contacted by Maxson. He taunted them, by saying that he would find them. However, Jack tried to reason with his friend; stating that following the orders he was given without question made him no different than a droid. But Maxson only ended the transmission. [3]
Eventually, the battle droids arrived at the base and engaged the clones. As Jack had hoped, the clones were too occupied to notice him, Jiether and C9 slip by. On the landing platform, Jack spotted a Nu-class transport. Jiether and C9 went first, dispatching the shuttle's personnel and prepared the ship for departure. Jiether then piloted the ship so his comrade could board. However, as Jack boarded, he was shot off the ramp by Wolfhound and fell on the edge of the platform. Wolfhound and Ross then held their former superior at gunpoint. Meanwhile, the ship came under fire by two ARC-170 starfighters. However, the commander swiftly destroyed them. Back on the platform, the two clones were killed by Maxson. Afterwards, Jack tried to convince Maxson into escaping with them. However, Maxson refused, and he pushed Jack onto the ship. As the rest of clones caught up to him, Maxson then blasted nearby fuel crates to prevent the others from pursuing the group. This resulted in a massive explosion that killed everyone on the platform. [3]
As the shuttle entered the planet's atmosphere, the ship was briefly pursued by Jag in an ARC-170 starfighter. However, C9 had Droid tri-fighter shoot Jag from behind; causing the pilot to break off his attack. When the ship was in space, Jack told C9 to set course for Coruscant. However, the droid received a transmission from Obi-Wan Kenobi that warned them to avoid the Jedi Temple and go into hiding. Jack thought for a moment then asked the two if they wanted to go somewhere far away. The droid beeped in response. Meanwhile, Jiether nodded. Jack then reached for a lever and took the ship into hyperspace. [3]
Personality and traits[]
As a clone of Jango Fett, CC-9598 was a human male who stood 1.83 meters tall and had black hair, brown eyes, and tan skin. [1] The clone was considered a natural leader, bringing the 623rd Battle Regiment to fame under his command. He was known as "Jiether," a nickname the commander adopted as part of a growing trend in the military, where the Jedi encouraged the clones to behave as individuals. As with all of his fellow clone troopers, Jiether lived to serve the Galactic Republic and to protect its citizens. While he was eager to follow orders, Jiether adopted a less rigid approach as the Clone Wars wore on. He was seen as a keen strategist, possessing a practical mind for warfare, which, combined with his combat ability, earned him the respect of his superiors and fellow soldiers.
Jiether was very close with his captain, Jack Tresherslider during the Clone Wars, harboring deep respect and friendship for the man. The two trusted each other with their lives on a near-constant basis. The two were close enough that friendly teasing was commonplace in their conversations. When Order 66 was issued, he turned against his brothers in order to save Jack’s life, although their deaths left him distraught.
Armor and equipment[]
Jiether wore Phase I ARC Trooper Armor with brown and white markings. However, his leg and arm plates were covered with a striped Wookiee pattern. Later in war, he upgraded to the Phase II ARC Trooper Armor. Jiether also carried a DC-15A blaster carbine and pair of DC-17 hand blasters.
Behind the scenes[]
Jiether first appeared in Star Wars: One Clone Captain: The Super Soldier. However, the author confirmed that he was the trooper that had fallen off the gunship with Senator Amidala.
