CC-2009: “Ace, our cannons aren't firing. They're jammed. What'll we do?
Ace: “Improvise!
―Ace to CC-2009, on a Gunship on Geonosis

CC-4822, nicknamed Ace, was a clone marshal commander in the 88th Star Corps in the Grand Army of the Republic who served under High Jedi General Camil Fon from 22 BBY to 19 BBY during the Clone Wars, the galaxy-wide conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems. He always followed his orderes without question, and Camil Fon later described him as a "Tough, freethinking, aggresive trooper, who does his duty to the Republic any way he can." During the war, he became friends with fellow clone commanders CC-2009 Typhuss and CC-2224 Cody.

During Order 66, Ace refused to kill his Jedi General, and protected him from his comrades who were attacking him. He and twelve other clones survived, and each went into hiding from the newly born Galactic Empire. Ace went to become a restaurant owner on Tatooine, along with fellow squad member CT-1992 Meatloaf, but in 10 BBY was drafted into the Stormtrooper Corps. When they began getting suspicious about him deserting his Corps, Ace made up a lie that he had been separated from his Unit during Order 66 and shoved onto a prisoner ship heading to Tatooine; In reality he had escaped onto an ARC-170 starfighter with Meatloaf, Camil Fon, and the squad's droid, R4-P8.

After being enlisted by the Empire, he took part in the Battle of Kamino against the Alliance to Restore the Republic, better known as the Rebel Alliance with the rest of his squad, who had also been forced into the Empire. He saw his Jedi General from the Clone Wars, leading a Rebel battalion, and he and his squad surrendered to them. Ace joined the Rebellion, and became the Flight Commander of Bantha Squadron, flying a heavily modified T-65 X-Wing. He led the prestigious unit in many battles, but in late 1 ABY, he quit the starfighter corps and became a General in ground troops in the Alliance. The same year he married his sweetheart, Tru Dasda on Camildrona. He later served in the New Republic and Galactic Alliance.

Biography[]

Training[]

CC-4822 was bred in 32 BBY as one of the countless clones slated to become soldiers in the Grand Army of the Republic. Early in on his career, his flair of independence that always brought the prying eyes of the Kaminoans, and played a key role in his rising in the ranks to commander. His training was overseen by Jango Fett himself, and he was selected to be a potential ARC trooper candidate. He became friends with Jango and visited his apartment often, and soon became the mentor of Boba Fett, the "son" of Jango Fett.

During his training in the clone trooper cadet squad Alpha Squad, he became acquainted to his comrades, Vaux, Meatloaf, Blaist, Jex, and Harry, who began to call him "Ace" near the end of his training. He graduated in early 22 BBY, and, like all other Alpha squad members, was assigned to the 88th Star corps in the Grand Army of the Republic. When the Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi discovered Kamino, he guided him and Prime Minister Lama Su through the cloning facility of Tipoca City, knowing the city extensively. The 88th Star Corps was having it's noon meal when it and all other units were called to Geonosis, just in time to rescue the Jedi strike team.

Clone Wars (22 BBY–19 BBY)[]

Battle of Geonosis[]

In 22 BBY, when the Clone Wars broke out on the outer rim planet of Geononsis, Ace served in the ensuing battle. The 88th Star Corps were ordered to reinforce the troops on the front lines. By the time he eventually got there, the clone army was suffering heavy casualties. The 88th Star Corps and all other units were ordered to briefly retreat, but Ace held his ground, tending to severely injured troopers. He eventually was forced to retreat toward a trench, while Separatist battle droids walked right over him. He destroyed an entire squad of battle droids, but was eventually shot in the arm and cornered by OOM-13-50 and his droids, but right before he was about to be killed, advancing republic forces shot the droids, with the exception of their commander, and was sent to a medical hospital, and after that was awarded the Medal of Bravery, the highest honor for clone troopers in the Republic. After the battle, he was assigned to Jedi High General Camil Fon, who he stayed under for the rest of the war.

Battle of Cartao[]

In 22 BBY, the 88th Star Corps was sent to Cartao, under strict orders from Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, to capture the Separatist-held Spaarti cloning facility. A force led by Kinman Doriana was sent to capture the planet. At first, the troops met little resistance, some none at all, but then the fighting turneed fierce. Ace and Camil Fon led a Regiment down the Maa'ano Valley, to destroy the Separatist base, while Doriana led the troops to the cloning facility. After Ace led the troops through the valley, they encountered a canyon, and the Separatist base was just at the other side. For two hours the men helplessly fired across the canyon, hoping to hit something, when Ace came up with an idea. He reasoned that since the walkers tracks were magnetic, and the walls of the canyon were made out of Uranium, they could use the walkers to walk on the walls of the canyon, down and up, and then when the walkers got to the other side, they would extend a makeshift bridge for the infantry to go on. The plan worked, and they captured the Separatist base. After the battle, Ace was awarded the Palpatine Cross.

Battle of Ryloth[]

After the battle, Ace and the 88th Star corps didn't see much action until early 21 BBY. He participated in the battles of Atraken, Hypori, and Orto Plutonia, but other than that spent most of his time playing Dejarik with Blaist or joking with Vaux and Harry in the barracks. However, when the Republic decided to recapture Ryloth, the 88th Star Corps were assigned to the invasion forces. They and the 52nd Star Corps were assigned to the Acclamator class assault transport Felucia. Almost immediately after the Felucia came out of hyperspace a lucky shot from a Confederate frigate crashed into the bridge and killed most of the command crew, including the captain. Ace bravely led his troops up the smoking bridge and was able to regain control of the ship, while the 52nd Star Corps manned the guns. The ship was able to land on Ryloth, but not before destroying three Separatist ships. After a while, the two units eventually joined the other units about to liberate the capital city, Lesssu. There he met the commander of the 52nd Star Corps, CC-2009, who would remain his friend for the rest of the war. After the battle, Ace wanted to stay to secure the planet, but was transported to Coruscant to track down Ziro the Hutt after he escaped with Cad Bane. He wouldn't stay on the planet for long; he was going to Behpour.

Battle of Behpour[]

His friendship with Typhuss proved to be worth it. After the battle he was contacted by his friend and Jedi general Aayla Secura about a hologram the group discovered on their mission to the planet Alzoc III. Ace delivered this information to the Jedi Council, which then decided to attack the planet. During the battle, Ace, Rex, and Cody created a diversion, while Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi sneaked into the droid factory to destroy the shield, thus allowing the main body of troops to destroy the main building, where Kul Teska was a hiding his gravitic polarization beam which he planned to use against the Republic. Anakin and his apprentice Ahsoka Tano faced Teska inside, while Ace, Cody, Rex, and Ponds brought Anakin's ship the Twilight to the rendezvous point. On their way, they encountered Count Dooku, who personally forced choked Ace. He kept choking him until a distraction from a malfunction on his ship. Cody tended to Ace's wounds, while Rex and Ponds fired on Dooku. They were about to be killed when Kenobi and fellow Jedi Mace Windu arrived and injured the Count. After a short duel, Dooku eventually escaped with help from apprentice Asajj Ventress. Ace was dismayed at the loss of Count Dooku, but his spirits brightened when he and Jedi Camil Fon heard news that Skywalker had rescued Amidala and destroyed the Separatist Command Base which included the laboratory. While they was destroying the remaining battle droids, Ace found, in the rubble of a shot down Delta 7 starfighter, a small, blue astromech droid, named R4-P8. He took the droid to be repaired at a nearby droid station, and, with the droid's request, took him in. In the next few months they grew closer, and the droid would become the troopers companion for the rest of his life. After the planet had been secured, Fon was asked to substitute for Kenobi as the High Jedi General for the 212th Attack squadron, since Kenobi was ill. as a result, Fon dismissed the 88th star corps from duty until he returned. Ace had always been interested in the planet Tatooine, and he took the chance and took the 88th Star Corps on a patrol trip to the planet.

Second Battle of Geonosis[]

His trip to Tatooine was interrupted with news from Jedi General Ki-Adi-Mundi that the republic was planning a second invasion of Geonosis. Ace was quickly rushed to the Republic base at Mabonte, in the Geonosis system. Preparations for the invasion were quickly made, and the 88th star Corps and one other unit boarded the Felucia, now having become the 88th's personal transport. Once at Geonosis, Ace, R4-P8, Camil Fon, Harry, Vaux, Blaist, Ki-Adi- Mundi, and a few other clone troopers boarded a LAAT/i gunship heading to Geonosis. On the gunship, he met his old friend, Typhuss. For about ten minutes, they talked and shared stories of their adventures, before entering the Geonosian atmosphere. Once into the atmosphere, the gunship encountered heavy Geonosian fire, one hitting their main laser cannon. Typhuss informed him that the cannons were down and Ace replied by telling him to improvise. He asked how, and Ace told him to cut part of the wall out, take a blaster, and fire it. Harry remarked that Ace was always on top of things, and then Typhuss did it. He asked Typhuss to call for reinforcements, but Typhuss refused, saying that the ship needed ground cover first, and called for Commander Cody to drop the AT-TEs near their landing point. But before the gunship could even open it's landing gear, it was shot down. Ace and Typhuss escaped out of the wreckage, helping their generals out. Then Ki-Adi-Mundi ordered all troopers but Ace to be were loaded onto some AT-TE walkers to be taken to the rendezvous point. He told Ace to lead the sniper/flame trooper assault on the main Separatist base. He was equipped with only 100 troopers, two gunships and an AT-TE for the attack. He sent out a force of 20 men to distract the droids, and secretly sent the rest of the men on two pincers to encircle the base. Once encircled, Ace called for reinforcements, and eventually forced the surrender of the two remaining droid troops. He and the survivors of his group were rewarded the Medal of Bravery, plus a rest of two weeks on the planet Naboo.

Sky Battle of Quell[]

After his trip was finished, Alpha Squad was assigned to the Venator class Star Destroyer Skyliner to be taken to reinforce the Republic flotilla at Quell. When they arrived at the blockade, there was little time to prepare for battle before the four Confederate frigates arrived. Ace, Jex, and Harry immediately got in to their ARC-170 starfighter, with R2-Q8 as their droid, and shot down many droid fighters. They even destroyed a small Confederate carrier. Eventually though, they were forced to land because of low fuel supply, and returned to action after refueling. Even then, after destroying 50 more droid fighters landed after being hit on the engine. Even with their tremendous help, the fleet began taking heavy losses, and eventually, Jedi General Aayla Secura's flagship Liberty was the only one remaining. Fortunately for the Republic forces, Anakin Skywalker and Wullf Yularen were due to arrive with the Resolute. After the Resolute arrived out of hyperspace. While Admiral Yularen commanded the Resolute's forces, Anakin Skywalker and some troops boarded an LAAT/i gunship to board the Liberty to meet Aayla Secura. But noticing that the Skyliner had been shot down but hadn't crashed yet, Anakin ordered a group of his gunships to make a quick stop at the ships to rescue the survivors, which included Ace and Alpha squad. Then, just as they arrived on the Liberty, the Confederates doubled their attack, hoping to down the damaged ship. The Jedi and clones made their way to the Star Destroyer's lower hold, where Anakin had ordered a Consular class cruiser docked. However, Alpha Squad got separated from the group, and was forced to take one of the last remaining escape pods to land on Quell.

Battle of the Nameless Jungle Planet[]

After they had been rescued from Quell by Admiral Yularen, Ace and the 88th Star Corps were dispatched to lead an assault on a Confederate-controlled nameless jungle planet. Hours before, they were loaded into guships. Alpha Squad was all loaded into one gunship, while Able took the pilot seat. Almost Immediately after they entered the atmosphere they were attacked by twenty Confederate Vulture Droid Fighters. Ace and Harry, manning the main laser cannons, shot down the first seven fighters with ease. but the other thirteen were harder to get, as they were experienced fighters. Nevertheless, one by one was shot down, and in a matter of twenty minutes only one remained. That one however, was the best of them all, and repeatedly dodged the shots. The pilot of the gunship suggested to just fire randomly in the direction of the droid. Now desperate, they did so, and a lucky shot from Ace's cannon hit the droid in the wing. The droid swirled toward the ground, but not before firing a last shot at the gunship's engine. It was a direct hit, and the ship began burning up. The main part of the ship separated from the cockpit capsule, and crashed onto the ground. Alpha Squad and a few other clone troopers survived, and were able to make it to the forward command center.

At the forward command center, Ace was informed by R4-P8 that Camil Fon had left the command center to lead the rest of the 88th on a broad, steady assault on the Confederate base. Ace was to up in his ARC 170, along with R4, Harry, and Jex, and lead the Aerial assault on Confederate forces. At first he destroyed every ship he came across. But then, he came in contact with one of the harder fighters. Ace eventually shot it down, but he was too close to the ground, and debris from the explosion destroyed two of his left S-foils. He crashed into the ground, and the others took him to a medical station. Late in the battle he had recovered and aided the 88th to destroy the main Separatist communications station. After the planet was secure, the Felucia landed and extracted the 88th from the planet.

Battle of Malastare[]

After the battle, Ace and the 88th Star Corps was dispatched to Malastare to battle a massive invasion force sent by the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Supreme Chancellor Palpatine ordered the republic forces tested a prototype electromagnetic pulse weapon, called an electro proton bomb, which was designed to disable all the battle droids and enemy vehicles, while doing no harm to the Republic forces or the native Dug warriors defending the planet. The weapon had never been tested before, and Nahka Urus and Jedi Masters Mace Windu and Camil Fon feared that the bomb could cause severe damage to Malastare's ecosystem, however Dr. Sionver Boll, the scientist that created the bomb, assured them that it would not affect the planet. Ace did not believe that the bomb could severely affect the planet, but thought that possibly the bomb would disable some of the republic's vehicles, such as his own AT-TE, and the republics droids, such as R4-P8, if the bomb was detonated close to the front lines. The Chancellor urged them to test it, and finally they agreed.

After they agreed, Ace and Harry and R4 were loaded onto a BTL-B Y-Wing bomber, that was loaded with the electromagnetic bomb. They were instructed to carry the bomb to enemy territory, drop it, destroy the few Vulture droids that usually swarmed the command center, and return with their lives. Harry joked that they would be lucky to have their cockpit still flying ten kilometers from the drop point, and Ace said he didn't think it was funny. Though deep down, he knew Harry was right. This was a dangerous mission. Escorted by two ARC 170s, the Y-wing rose into the air, creaking with the weight of the bomb. when they arrived at the drop point, Ace quickly dropped the bomb. He quickly destroyed all the fighters, and turned back to the republic base. But then, one of his engines flamed out, and the other was hit by a piece of debris. It plummeted toward the ground, skidding on a makeshift republic runway. Just after he got out, the ground began sinking, taking the group with them. Ace tried to contact Camil Fon, but all communications were lost

Soon after, Mace Windu and three other clone troopers, serving as a search party, found them. Ace, along with Harry and R4, joined them. Soon, they realized the surface they were standing on was moving. It was revealed to be a creature, and the clones started firing on it, but to no avail. The beast lifted it's head up, and the group fell down. Skywalker arrived to distract it, and the group was able to escape with a gunship. The dugs spent the rest of the day bombarding the creature, and it was soon knocked unconscious. It was arranged to be brought to Coruscant, to be studied, as Dr. Boll suggested it could be used for new clone armor. Ace eagerly agreed to this. As a result, he was one of the clones in charge of guarding it while it was being taken to Coruscant.

Zillo Beast Incident[]

After the men brought the creature, which had been revealed by the Dugs as a Zillo Beast, back to Coruscant, it escaped the study facility and ravaged parts of the city. Ace was among the large number of clone troopers which were trying to kill the creature. Anakin Skywalker was also trying to kill the beast, which was now attacking the Senate building. The creature apparently was smart enough to know who was trying to kill him, which was Supreme Chancellor Palpatine. Soon, it captured Palpatine, Skywalker, and Naboo Senator Padme Amidala, secretly Skywalker's wife. Ace tried to defend the group by himself, particularly the Senator, as he saw she hadn't done anything to the beast, but the group slammed it's tail on the ground, just inches away from Ace's body, which forced him to retreat. Meanwhile, Obi-Wan reminded Windu to catch them when they fell, and Rex remarked that a lot of Skywalker's plans involved falling. Ace piloted a gunship, filled with Malastarian oil filled gas bombs, and dropped them on the Beast, killing it. As a reward for his bravery, he was awarded the Skywalker Cross, one of the highest awards in the Grand Army of the Republic

Advanced Recon Commando[]

Sometime before the Battle of Kamino, Ace was given the chance to become an Advanced Recon Commando, or ARC, trooper by ARC Commander Blitz. Ace accepted. He reluctantly requested to have the special ARC trooper experimental Phase II armor, made out of Zillo beast scales, which was fulfilled.

Portal on Mygeeto[]

Later, shortly after the battle on Rishi Moon, Ace, Jex, Harry, Vaux, Blaist, and Meatloaf and another clone squadron was sent to Mygeeto to collect a series of special power crystals under direct order from Chancellor Palpatine, which, secretely, was planning to use them for the superlaser of the First Death Star. they arrived on the planet and quickly found the cave with the crystals. While the other squad stayed outside to guard the entrance of the cave, Alpha Squad went into the cave.

In the cave, Jex found the stash of crystals, only to destroy some with his blaster, and creating a time hyperspace-wormhole. Ace warned no one to get near it, but he himself trips on a rock and gets sucked in, leading the rest of the squad except Vaux to get sucked in. They all travel 21 years in the future, during the storming of the Tantive IV. Ace stared in wonder, not knowing who was the enemy. He assumed, since they were wearing white Phase II-like armor, that the white clad figures, who in reality were stormtroopers, were clone troopers, and ran toward them to find out. On the way, he passed a black-clothed sinister looking figure, which was wearing a special breathing mask. He stopped, afraid, and stood next to him until he left the room. he then ran more, only to trip another trooper. Then a laser bolt to his right hand knocked him unconscious. He woke up in the cave, being tended to by Vaux. Vaux asked what had happened. Ace told him the story up to the part when he met himself, and the said he couldn't remember anything. They made their way off planet, and informed Palpatine that they had failed to collect the crystals. Palpatine dismissed Ace, and he said that he would send units of the 501st led by Ki-Adi-Mundi to collect the crystals.

Battle of Kamino[]

After the mission to Mygeeto, Ace, along Jedi Generals Kenobi, Skywalker, Fon and fellow officers Rex, Typhuss, and Cody watched an intercepted code hologram between Separatist leaders General Grievous and Commander Asajj Ventress indicacting that they were going to attack Kamino. The four clones were sent with their generals along with the rest of 501st and the 88th Star Corps to reinforce General Shaak Ti on Kamino and landed at the Military Complex of Tipoca City, Kamino's capital.

When Grievous arrived at Kamino, he brought with him a large Separatist fleet to challenge the Republic's blockade of the planet. While Skywalker led the Republic starfighters into battle against Grievous's forces, Ace joined Cody, Typhuss, Rex, Kenobi, Ti, and Lama Su in Tipoca City's command center to monitor the battle from afar. However, the spatial engagement proved to only be a diversionary assault when the debris from several Separatist cruisers that had fallen into Kamino's oceans turned out to be pieces for a set of disguised assault ships.

The crafts rose out of the seas and deployed a battle droid army led by Ventress to attack Tipoca City. As the invading droids marched through and damaged the Military Complex, Ace, Fon, and Alpha Squad, along with a platoon of cadets. Although the cadets did not believe that they could help to repel the Separatists, as their training had not yet been completed, Ace underlined the fact that it was their home that they were defending. With the droids about to reach the main power reactor at the center of the base, which, if destroyed, could destroy the entire city, Ace, Fon, and the platoon to a nearby armory to retrieve weapons so they could defend the reactor. The cadets hid in the raised retractable sleeping chambers along the corridor wall to provide extra firepower at the right moment. When three battle droid squads broke into the facility, the group immediately gunned down the initial forces at the entrance.

They were unable to drive back all of the droids, however, and they were forced to retreat into the control room, where the fight was so intense neither side could gain the upperhand. The clones quickly took up cover positions behind several crates to return the approaching droids fire, although they were now trapped at a dead end. The droids continued receiving reinforcements, and the battle came to a standstill. Soon later, however, the main battle was over, and, with the fleet defeated, clone reinforcements began pouring in through a vent in the ceiling. The droids were eventually forced to surrender, and Ace was awarded another Medal of Bravery.

Second Battle of Mon Calamari[]

Later, in 21 BBY, tensions between the Quarren Isolation League and the Mon Calamari escalated, and Ace, along with Rhea Company and Camil Fon, was dispatched with Senator Padmé Amidala and Jedi Anakin Skywalker to Dac. Amidala, Skywalker, and Fon were sent as representatives of the Galactic Republic, and Rhea Company was only there in case war broke out, but tensions escalated even more when the Quarren had the Confederacy of Independent Systems send their own representative, Commander Riff Tamson.

The negotiations failed, and soon a full-scale battle erupted at the capital of Dac Coral City. After merely entertaining the notion of diplomacy, the Quarren—aided by Separatist military might—launched a surprise attack on the Mon Calamari, which took place in the Capital. In response to the aggressive actions of the Quarren, the Jedi Council dispatched an armed force of clone SCUBA troopers, led by General Kit Fisto and Commander Ahsoka Tano.

Despite the addition of clone troopers and the assistance of Gungan warriors, Tamson proved to be an efficient commander who specialized in aquatic warfare. With the defeat and enslavement of the Mon Calamari, the surviving Jedi officers and Republic soldiers, including Ace, were taken as prisoners of the Separatists.

Later, Ahsoka Tano and the desposed Mon Calamari monarch prince Lee-Char arrived at the prison camp where Ace was being held, and they attempted to rally the people in the camps. However, they were captured, and brought before Riff Tamson. While this was taking place, Ace devised an escape plan with Quarren High Guard Tekkes Rosson, who had been instructed by Nossor Ri, the leader of the Quarren who had betrayed the Separatists after learning their true intentions, to let the people of the camp escape. As Lee-Char was about to be executed, he was saved by Ri, and, with what Ace called "The perfect timing in the universe", the prisoners arrived, freed the prince, and then set out for the liberation of the rest of the planet. Ace took place in the liberation of Coral City, and was responsible for liberating the entire downtown area.

Battle of Umbara[]

Later in the war, Ace and the 88th Star Corps was dispatched to Umbara to reinforce the Skywalker-commanded 501st Legion, although, by the time they got there, the commander of the legion was Besalisk Jedi Master Pong Krell. The Republic task force sent there initiated an attack to the retake the world that was once part of the Republic, and capture its capital city. As the gunships descended through the shadowy world's atmosphere to the surface, the Umbaran militia stationed on ground level fired on the Republic gunships, which had entered the atmosphere over Umbaran-held territory. Although some gunships crashed as a result of the heavy fire, the clone pilot on Ace's gunship was able to maneuver the shuttle to the correct landing site and avoid being shot down. Following Camil Fon, whose gunship had landed on the surface before Ace's shuttle, Ace and his teammates began their initial push against the Umbarans.

Krell's troops on the ground were supported by AT-RT-mounted troopers, as well as space gunships that carried more clone reinforcements. Soon, ace met up with Krell, Jesse, Tup, Hardcase, ARC trooper Fives, and Rex. Ace asked Krell that his unit push ahead as the enemy was retreating, so the troopers could get a good foothold in enemy territory, but Krell refused, claiming that a better plan would be to send many troops across a large front. Afterward, Krell ordered Rex and Ace to ready all clone platoons, and the teams began to follow the Besalisk Jedi through Umbara's jungle terrain, heading toward the planet's capital city. When two flying creatures approached Krell's team, Hardcase and the troops fired their weapons at the flying animals. The creatures, however, attacked the troopers, and one of the creatures lifted a clone off the ground. Krell forced the creature to release the trooper, before killing the animal with his twin double-bladed lightsabers.

After the event, the 88th and 501st troops walked for nearly twelve hours. To allow his troops to rest, Rex wanted his men to make camp, a decision that was not well received by Krell, who dictated that the platoons of the 501st were crucial to the Republic's success on Umbara. Without resting, Hardcase and the team made their way to the outskirts of Umbara's capital city. While Skywalker had originally planned to deplete the city's defenses first before initiating multiple attacks, Krell wanted an all-out forward assault to the city. To achieve this, Ace and the clones would use a highway which led into the city itself. When the clone troopers began to walk on the highway, several of the clones exploded as a result of hidden enemy mines on the ground. As Fives began to scan the surface of the highway to locate the mines, Umbaran troops ambushed the troopers. The Umbarans utilized their hover tanks, equipped with EMP cannons, against the clones and advanced toward their position. Although Hardcase and other clone troopers killed a number of Umbaran troopers, the native specie overran the clones, forcing the clones to fall back.

After positioning themselves away from the Umbaran militia, Ace and the clone troopers resumed their firefight with the attacking Umbarans, though the Umbara natives began to retreat. Krell believed that his plan to take over the city was compromised and blamed the setback on Rex and his leadership. After a heated debate between Krell and the clone troopers, including Ace, the Jedi Master took note of the Rex's words, yet the Jedi Master wanted the 88th and 501st to continue carrying out his plan of taking over the city. General Kenobi requested that Krell capture a crucial Umbaran airbase in his path, so the troops turned around again and headed towards the airbase walking, while Krell rode ahead in his personal gunship. they were again ambushed by Umbaran tanks, so troopers Fives and Hardcase snuck behind enemy lines and captured two Umbaran starfighters, which destroyed the tanks. The 88th Star Corps was transnferred from the planet, but Ace was glad to hear that Krell had been a separatist and executed.

Mission to Cato Neimoidia[]

Directly after the Battle of Umbara, Ace was transported off Umbara by the Republic ship Magnolian Queen. Later, his friend Typhuss would be assigned to the ship while supervising the Mission to Cato Neimodia by a Republic Special Forces team and two clones, which Typhuss knew. During the mission, the team was ambushed by a Bounty Hunter working for the Confederacy, who called in reinforcements of droid battalions. Ace was requested by Typhuss's friend Vill to lead a LAAT/i gunship rescue assault. He launched it successfully, but two Republic troopers were killed, and four were wounded, not including the clone trooper Beater. He was thanked, and he prepared for the Invasion of Camildrona. However, Commanders Vill and Typhuss insisted that he stayed, and the convinced General Fon to let him stay two more weeks.

Battle of Hoth[]

Ace had only one week left when the starship he was on, the Destiny, was assigned to a fleet attacking the Separatist-held world of Hoth. He later helped rescue the captured troopers, the same ones from the previous mission, Beater and Deadeye. With his knowledge of top secret Project 239, he and an officer fromm the 223rd Republic Fleet Regiment, Private Kernel Sandurz, engineered a transporter to beam up the two clones. With the Republic winning the battle, the Destiny jumped into hyperspace.

Battle of Camildrona[]

After the Battle of Umbara, the 88th Star Corps was dispatched to the Mid Rim planet of Camildrona, which a few months earlier had been invaded by the Confederacy of Independent Systems, most notably the Commerce Guild, led by Presidente Shu Mai. A counterattack had been planned, but it was delayed because of the Third Battle of Kamino. After the battle, the invasion was delayed for a further two months, for the Republic had taken heavy losses at the battle and needed to recover.

Ace and Camil Fon, along with the 88th Star Corps, were chosen to lead the attack on the planet. After a paratrooper assault on the Capital City of Camil, Ace and Fon joined Anakin Skywalker and his padawan Ahsoka Tano, who had survived the paratrooper assault. As the Jedi pressed their assault into Separatist-held territory, Separatist General Grievous dispatched battle droid reinforcements aboard a C-9979 landing craft to his most strategic base, which was conveniently only five kilometers from the capital. To attack Grievous's troops at the source, Ace, Fon, Skywalker, Tano, and the 88th, proceeded to attack it. With a three-part-plan- developed by Tano, the group successfully captured the base. With his most important base gone, Commander Riff Jargon, disobeying orders from Count Dooku and Grievous, began a slow evacuation of the planet. Now with republic reinforcements and the best separatist troops gone, the republic easily recaptured the planet.

Battle of Brodo Asogi[]

In 19 BBY, the 66th Attack Regiment, along Ace and Camil Fon, were assigned to help aid the 132nd Legion destroy a Separatist outpost on the planet Brodo Asogi. Ace led the 27th Recon/Attack Battalion against the base. He led alpha squad and 2 other squads to infiltrate the base. They planted explosives in the main reactor, and escaped just as it exploded. After capturing the base, he and Fon sought to attack the remaining separatists scattered across the planet.

Order 66[]

After destroying the base, Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, secretely Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Sidious, transmitted Order 66 to clone commanders across the galaxy, including Ace. It was also transmitted to Clone Commander CC-2284, in charge of 132nd Legion. He ordered both his troopers and Ace's troopers to fire on the Jedi. Despite Ace's protests, the troopers began firing on Fon. Ace had had his suspicions about Palpatine, and believed the Jedi were good. He and a few other troopers, including Alpha Squad, made their way through the crowd of clone troopers to the still-alive Jedi, and began defending him. Most of the legion was destroyed, and the Jedi and the clones parted way. Camil Fon, Ace, and Meatloaf escaped onto an ARC-170 to Tatooine. Camil Fon moved to the outskirts of Anchorhead, close to the other jedi on exile on the planet, Obi-Wan Kenobi, now named Ben, while Ace and meatloaf settled in central Mos Eisley, building a cantina with the Bith Jata Merik.

Tatooine[]

While on Tatooine, Ace and Meatloaf made friends with the local Bith fruit-stand vendor Jata Merik, and they sought to build a cantina together. However, there was no suitable building for sale, but while in Mos Espa, Ace bought a YT-1300 freighter, the Tatooine Star, and Merik suggested they turn the ship into the cantina. Despite Ace's protests, the cantina, named the Outland Cantina, was hugely successful. Ace was very friendly to regulars, and he knew all their names. Jata Merik encouraged him to employ an Imperial for a bouncer, and he hired TK-409.

Into the Empire[]

In 10 BBY, his bouncer, TK-409 realized that Ace was a clone trooper and reported this to his superior officer. He ordered 409 to arrest the clone and bring him to the local Stormtrooper Recruiting station. Luckily, Meatloaf avoided this fate because he and 409 had never met. His interrogator asked him why he deserted, at the point of a vibroblade, and Ace calmly responded during the chaos of Order 66 he had been pushed onto a prisoner ship bound for Tatooine. The intterogator, which had drank a drink that Ace slipped a potion into, believed him, but he sentenced him to fifteen years in the Imperial Stormtrooper Corps.

Battle of Kamino and defection[]

In 1 BBY, Ace and the rest of the 88th Star Corps was transferred to Kamino in preparation for a Rebel attack. The 88th was stationed in Tipoca City, the capital. After two months, most of the troopers were convinced the Rebels wouldn't strike, and just as they were prepearing to leave, the Rebels attacked. Ace ordered his unit to try and surround the rebels, but they were fought back. Thousands of pieces of debris began raining down from the space battle, crushing many of the Imperial and Rebel troops. However, the rebels took to the rubble, making perfect sniping and repeating blaster positions. Ace ordered his regiment to retreat into the buildings. They retreated into the run-down Citadel Challenge course room, in which Ace had trained in almost 22 years ago. The rebels were able to start the training droids up again, and they charged on the Imperials. In the midst of battle, Ace saw his old Jedi General from the Clone Wars, Camil Fon, leading the Rebels. He told his squad this, and they ripped some white cloth off the clothes of a dead Imperial Security Bureau officer, and they ran towards they rebels with it, yelling "We surrender." Ace and his squad were all stunned by a squad of Rebel snipers, and after the Rebels finally won the battle and captured Darth Vader, Ace and his squad was transported to the orbiting Rebel EF76 Nebulon medical frigate Corellia for treatment. After being treated for his injuries, he asked Camil Fon to let him join the Alliance. Fon, knowing Ace "all too well" as he said to the other Rebel officers, agreed. He and his squad became part of Bantha Squadron, created by Commander Arhul Narra.

Battle of Ton-Falk[]

After becoming a member of the Alliance, he was ordered to prepare for the invasion of the strategical and resourceful planet of Ton-Falk. The planet itself had barely any Imperial presence, but there was a large blockade protecting it. Given his uniform and ship, he was notified that Commander Narra woulnd't be leading Bantha Squadron because he was already in command of Renegade Flight. Commander Hamil Warkinson was in charge. However, once they entered the orbit of the planet, he was the first to get hit and his smoking ship crashed into an Imperial cruiser. Ace immediately assumed command of the squadron. He and three other pilots flew towards the command ship, the Imperial-I Star Destroyer Invicible. The pilots split up, targeting different areas of the ship, and he headed towards the command bridge. Meanwhile, none of the other pilots were able to hit the ship because of newly launched TIE fighter squadrons surroungding it. Ace was hit by a turbolaser battery and crash-landed in a hangar bay. He shot all the Imperial stormtroopers rushing towards his ship and nearby TIE fighters. He tried to get the ship started up, but he could only get it to hover less than a meter off the floor. He instructed his droid, R4-P8, who Ace had recently re-acquired, to fire the ships only two proton topedoes through a hallway which, according to the Blueprints R4 had, led directly to the main reactor. The droid fired the and they hit their mark. Almost crashing into TIE Fighter, he escaped the ship as it explode from the inside. The debris from it crashed into many other Imperial ships, rendering them vulnerable. Commander Narra and the Alliance starfighters then were able to gang up on them and subsequently destroyed them. The later invasion and occupation of the planet had no difficulties.

Armor and Gear[]

Soon after he finished his training on Kamino he began customizing his armor, and wore several different versions. Early in the Clone Wars, he wore a set of Phase One armor with a visor, antennas, a jetpack, a small floodlight, a built in pack for grenades, and blue stripes. Later in the war, he was known to have worn three different sets of Phase Two armor, both customized in revolutionary ways. He was also known to have worn the first variant of stormtrooper armor. Ace was also known for having several weapons. On all of his body armor, he had a holders for his two DC-17 hand blaster, but was also famous for using a DC-15A blaster rifles, and a Z-6 Rotary Cannon, which he christened "Blasty". In the Empire he had an E-11 Blastech Standard Sidearm, Blasty, and his old two DC-17 hand blasters; and in the Rebel Alliance's service a DH-17 blaster pistol, Blasty, and two DL-44 heavy blaster pistols.
