Byzantium was a temperate, terrestrial planet in the Byzantine system, part of the Tiber sector in the Mid Rim. The world orbited the star Invictus and had two orbits of its own, the moons Aeneas and Lavinia. The planet had 70% water coverage and contained various grasslands, forests, mountains, and oceans. Humans were a native species on the world, which had two known governments during its history, The Citadel and The Four Houses.
