The winds and people are coldest on Bucheshan.
—Popular proverb

Bucheshan was the second planet in the Ires system, a star system in Gargan Space of the Outer Rim Territories. It was a remote and often overlooked world of Gargan's Empire, made notable only for Broken Hill - a complex and menacing fortress which headquartered the Adeptis Uralis, the Empire's foremost elite Force-sensitive soldiers.

Bucheshan was a stormy world with intense precipitation. Throughout the year, it rained eighty-five percent of the time. Most of the planet was covered in thick swamps and marches, with desolate and barren hills in the northern latitudes where plant growth was minimal. Bucheshan also functioned as the Adeptis Uralis' primary training world - where young recruits often had to spent weeks alone and isolated in the unforgiving wilderness. Because of its affiliation with the Adeptis, Bucheshan gained a fearsome reputation in imperial society. Intense mining of shad iron beneath the planet surface left the planet with grim ecological and societal conditions. By time of the Clone Wars, Bucheshan's soil grew infertile and climate change due to excessive industrialization caused intense and often erratic weather patterns.
