The Breld Syndicate was an organization active in the fourteenth century before the Battle of Yavin. The Syndicate was involved in the creation of nuclear weapons and marketing them; while the Galactic Republic proscribed nuclear weapons and even the New Sith Empire did not employ them, the Syndicate believed there was a market among smaller factions and criminal organizations. Selmatri Furne, Darqyren Valt, and Nebel Oldrunin represented a Syndicate control group.
The Syndicate had a foundry on Hypori, wherein it manufactured its weapons. By 1,386 BBY, the Syndicate was ready to sell, and sold a powerful baradium-core nuclear bomb to Runganna the Hutt, whose vizier was none other than Darqyren Valt. The plan did not go exactly as intended—Runganna tried to auction the bomb rather than selling it, leading to attention from the Jedi, who ultimately left Circumtore with the bomb—but no one learned the Syndicate's name other than Hutt gangsters who might prove future customers.
Fearful of pursuit by Imperial Intelligence, the Syndicate left Hypori for Tenara. It found a willing buyer in Argus Z'dar, who used several nuclear weapons against Galidraan, Deep Storage Facility 214-Peth, and Bogg 14. Before the Syndicate could relocate off Tenara, Kenza Rowkwani led a strike team that captured the Tenara base and took Darqyren alive. Before submitting to Republic custody, Darqyren implied the Syndicate's activities extended beyond mere manufacturing of nuclear arms to those enterprises which would destabilize the existing power structure in the galaxy.
