The Brasworth Agreement was a treaty drafted by Senator Ty Brasworth of Coruscant in 733 BBY that merged smaller planetary defense agencies into the Judicial Forces. Although the agreement was not mandatory, larger planets put immense pressure on smaller ones to join. The purpose of drafting the provision was the belief that tax dollars sent to lesser populated planets for their individual defense forces would better be spent elsewhere. The Judicial Forces would then be required, according to the bill, to provide for defense as needed. Initially, seventy-eight planets signed onto the agreement under the pressure of planets such as Corellia, Coruscant, Denon, and Rodia. One of these planets was Taanab, but after the planet was unsuccessfully defended—a breach of the agreement—Taanab backed out. Sixty-one other planets also backed out, collapsing the agreement. In its aftermath was a wave of planetism on many worlds, angering the historically larger worlds.

The signatory planets hereby agree to dissolve their individual planetary militias, completing a full disarmament, and merging the personnel and materiel into the Judicial Forces. The Judicial Forces will hereby be responsible for the defense of these planets in the event that such services are needed. All systems that agree also will be given priority defense for the duration of the agreement. Planets permitted to join this agreement may not be larger in population than one billion and three hundred fifty thousand beings and must possess a defense force larger than fifty beings. A planet that signs the agreement is bound for a period of time established between the said planet and the Judicial Forces. When established term expires, the planet is permitted to not renew the contract. Under no other circumstances is the signatory planet permitted to break the agreement save a situation whereby the Judicial Forces did not provide adequate protection as deemed by the Galactic Senate. |
Behind the scenes[]
The Brasworth Agreement was created to compliment the backstory of Anwis Eddicus by Aban Fiolli. The treaty was created in order to offer a means for how Eddicus transitioned from the Taanab Militia to the Judicial Forces.
