Botto was a Toydarian Senator and member of the Rim Party and became their leader in the 96 BBY Galactic Republic Chancery election.
Biography[]
Following the Rim Party's fragmentation in the previous election and party leader Aik Morn's unpopular alliance with Merix Valorum's government, Morn was kicked out of the party and Botto was elected in his place. It was hoped that he would be able to win back support from the Democratic Republican Party which formed the only major opposition in the Senate. Valorum's reforms led to his re-election in 96 BBY, with support from the Rim Party draining to Valorum's Alliance Party and during Botto's leadership they lost many Senators until they dropped behind the Core Party in terms of support. Many blamed Botto for these setbacks although his party had drained support from the Democratic Republicans and he was replaced shortly after the election.
