Bogg 14 was the fourteenth moon of the planet Bogden in the Inner Rim. It was originally established as a mining colony to extract valuable minerals from deep under the surface, though by the time of the New Sith Wars the lodes had long since been exhausted. Some of Bogg 14's settlements were domed cities, while others were built into mining crevices and canyons.
After its natural wealth was depleted, Bogg 14 became a shadowport and a haven for crime. Republic authorities on Bogden routinely cracked down on Bogg 14's crime and encouraged immigration of productive entrepreneurs and skilled workers to revitalize Bogg 14, and for some centuries a healthy working and middle class persevered. At the outbreak of the New Sith Wars, however, effective control over Bogg 14 steadily collapsed and crime ran rampant, turning the moon into a haven for illegal activity of every kind. Some organized crime factions controlled whole cities, while other cities were a free-for-all; both Black Sun and various Hutt kajidics had presences on Bogg 14.
