Son, you must get our kingdom back. I may not live to see it, but I leave you the best army our people have ever mustered to reclaim your birthright!
—King Ioanus Haniadi
Black Army Holdings, typically referred to as the Black Army, was a private military contractor company and, for most of its history, salaried military of the Kingdom of Nagyaria. First formed by King Ioanus Haniadi as a professional standing military force to wage war against the neighboring Archduchy of Oesturic and Kingdom of Bohchek, this initial incarnation of the Black Army is often historically referred to as the First Black Army by Nagyar historians. Roughly thirty-three years later, Ioanus Haniadi was violently deposed by a junta which established the Nagyar Sectoral State, at which time, following his swift death, his son Mathius Haniadi took over leadership of the Black Army, reorganizing it as a private military contracting company known for attributes such as its effective and large-scale artillery usage, disciplined soldiers, and precision small-unit strikes. This second incarnation is referred to typically as the Second Black Army, and also acted as a means for the young Haniadi to gradually assemble support among his people and eventually liberate Nagyaria. During this decades-long process, Haniadi and the Black Army became founding members of the Bastille Pact, a cross-galactic alliance of numerous similar criminal organizations. Following the liberation of Nagyaria, the Black Army eventually became one of the galaxy's more prolific mercenary armies, serving in the Sith-Imperial War and the Second Imperial Civil War.
