The Beta Sector was an important Republic shipyard where several Republic Warships were built. It was constructed in 4,000 BBY for the Galactic Republic. Several classes of Warships for the Republic Navy were built there. It served Kuat and it's allies for more than 5,000 years.

Each drydock in the sector was designed to construct up to five warships at once. Depending on the class and position of a warship at times, six warships could be constructed at once. All of the warships that were built there were costructed with the "finest" of quality. They were extremely durable and would usually last several Standard Years in service. Warships were bought for the Galactic Republic, Galactic Republic Agency, and the Galactic Empire after Order 66. Common civilians could also purchase Warships if they could afford them. The Shipyard also built Jedi Warships for the Jedi Order. Ships were also constructed for the New Republic and the New Jedi Order when Kuat was captured at the Battle of Kuat IV.
Defensive systems[]
Each drydock was mounted with Heavy Ray Shields. Each drydock was also armed with 75 Heavy Mass Drivers, 75 Heavy Quad-Turbolasers, 10 Heavy Quad-Ion cannons, and 15 Heavy Proton Torpedo Tubes. Space stations were scattered across the sector to protect the drydocks in the area, and numerous satellite defences were installed in the sector (four per drydock) to protect them. At least five warships were guarding each shipyard.
