Bekli was a female Chadra-Fan Jedi who lived four centuries before the Battle of Ruusan during the New Sith Wars. She was the lover of fellow Jedi Elmir.
Biography[]
Lishedra and Elmir[]
As children, Bekli and Elmir were in the same Jedi Initiate Clan and became best friends; Bekli was self-conscious about her buck-toothed smile until Elmir told her he liked it. When they were chosen as Padawans, he by Kirthi and she by Lishedra Nakaana, they stayed in touch, and their masters wound up working together as a result. Over time, Bekli and Elmir's friendship became love, though they were careful to keep their relationship secret and they maintained open communication at all times to prevent either of them falling to the dark side due to uncontrolled emotions. They developed a Force bond as a result, even more powerful than those they shared with their masters.
Bekli felt at home in battle despite her small stature, and she often accompanied Lishedra to battles and other trouble spots throughout Republic space. To compensate for her size, she devoted herself to mastering Force IV and various Force-based acrobatics and Force speed. She and Lishedra often fought as a team, with Lishedra's Form V rooting an enemy in place and Bekli leaping about to attack from varying angles. Like many Chadra-Fan, she also became something of a gearhead, tinkering with electrical and mechanical systems as well as droids and weapons.
The Duel on Gyndine[]
Lishedra and Bekli answered the Jedi High Council's Emergency Code Nine-Oh-Five in 1,386 BBY, journeying to Gyndine to confront Darth Vandak. Bekli felt certain Elmir and Kirthi would join them, and was rewarded for her faith when they appeared with less than an hour to go. En route to the planet, Lishedra advised Bekli on how to proceed if she died, but once they reached the surface, Bekli and Elmir took the last free moment to embrace and whisper their love to one another.
When the fight began, Bekli initially held back so as to let larger, abler Jedi fight, but she got involved after Vandak slew Kirthi. She and Elmir briefly fought together until Vandak amputated Elmir's right leg; Bekli managed to drag him to safety with the Force. Vandak killed Lishedra as well, but Bekli's connection to Elmir helped her focus through her grief and anger. She was briefly downed, but Cienis Favand stepped between her and Vandak, who cut Favand down instead.
Left alone and realizing no frontal assault would prevail, Bekli and Elmir resorted to other tactics; Bekli rewired a power conduit to electrocute Vandak, then attacked after he was weakened. Elmir telekinetically blocked Vandak's blows with his lightsaber, allowing Bekli to leap and stab him in the back of the head. Sensing impending danger, she leapt one more time in Elmir's arms, and the two reinforced one another to shield themselves as Vandak exploded.
Watchman[]
Elmir and Bekli were treated aboard the Gyndine Shipyards; Vandak had struck off part of Bekli's left ear and burned her skin with a brief touch of Deadly Sight. She approved of Elmir's cybernetic replacement leg, though she began planning modifications at once. Council Master Kussam Bnodd journeyed to Gyndine to knight the two Padawans, dispensing with the Jedi Trials. Once he was gone, Bekli expressed her intention to remain nearby, replacing Cienis as acting Jedi Watchman of the Circarpous sector until the Council appointed a new one; Elmir planned to serve with her.
