The Battle of Utapau was the final battle of the Invasion of Utapau as well as the first battle of the Clone Wars. It began initially as a diversion so Utapau Queen Sabé Arcadia and a small group of her security forces could infiltrate the capital city of Theed while the droid armies of the Trade Federation were distracted by the forces of the Gungan Empire. During the battle, the Trade Federation forces were defeated by the Gungans, with help from Annikin Skywalker who destroyed the droid control ship in orbit of the planet. Arcadia and her soldiers were also able to arrest Trade Federation Viceroy Nute Gunray.
Despite the victory over the Trade Federation, the battle was not over. While Utapau was celebrating the victory, the armies of the Mandalorian Clans made their way into orbit and landed their warrior forces. Before the Gungans and the Utapau soldiers could be overrun, however, Mace Windy and other members of the Jedi Order arrived with the clone army created on Kamino for the Galactic Republic. Though the Republic won the battle, it did spark the Clone Wars which lasted for three years after.
