Project Cruentus

Let it not be said that we not give infidels fair treatment. I think it is time we reminded these Sravvie scum that they're not invincible, brothers.
Kahil Lu'ay

The Battle of Nodessa Binary was a battle of the Cruentusian War, and part of the large Death's Tongue Militia crusade. The DTM attacked the Srav Federation world of Nodessa Binary, which was lightly defended, and as a result of their attacks only young Srav infantry officer Nakata Milashka was left to conduct a defense. Nonetheless, although overwhelmed, many Sravs managed to successfully flee, and made Srav command aware that the DTM was no longer the irrelevance they had thought it to be.

Prelude[]

Having just taken Ord Vaxal from the Necasian Military, the DTM selected the Srav world of Nodessa Binary for attack, due to fuel reserves located there and the low-level defence. DTM bioweapon expert Krennel Kaan and Death's Knock Assassin Kahil Lu'ay were selected to lead the attack, and would land on the planet in a stolen SkyBull-class transports. With that, Kaan viewed available intelligence on the Srav forces there and then moved out.

DTM militants move in

Prior to the DTM force arriving, a pro-DTM Srav traitor detonated a suicide bomb in a nuclear reactor station on the planet, disabling early warning sensors and communications arrays. Realising that an attack was imminent, the highest-ranking Srav on the planet, young Nakata Milashka, issued a general alert, but due to the fact that the Srav troops there did not take her completely seriously due to her youth, not of all them complied.

Not long after, the DTM transport arrived and entered the atmosphere, landing near the main Srav fuel depot. DTM Hopper attack craft were the first to disembark, attacking outer outposts with missile attacks and suicide runs, before militants swarmed in. Unprepared, Srav troops were forced to used any weapons they could obtain, fighting off waves of militants, and Milashka herself joined in the fighting, holding the line near the main transport dock.

Nonetheless, the Srav forces were inefficient to form a total perimeter, and DTM militants began to move into a Srav defense missile base with an arsenal of Nostok-5 missiles. Milashka noticed this, and became determined to prevent whatever they were intending to do.

Red Zone Nodessa[]

At the missile base, the DTM overwhelmed the Srav militia there, but were briefly held back by Srav Molot walkers, with tore into them with their gatling cannons before being taken out with RPGs. DTM militants then began to try and access the missile control centers, but were unable to operate the machinery.

Not long after that, Nakata and her troops arrived and began attacking the DTM militants there, eventually repelling them with the assistance of surviving Molots. Nakata then tried to use the missiles against the DTM, but to her anger she discovered that she lacked the necessary authority level. However, she quickly had maintenance drones disarm the missiles and wrecked the controls before leaving the complex.

However, Kaan was not overly concerned. He had KRUD missiles installed in the place of the Nostoks at the missile site, and launched them at the main Srav base, spreading eborax in the process. Nakata decided that she could not win, and began to conduct a retreat. She had several unmanned transport barges crash into DTM-infested area to slow them down before doing so.

Retreat[]

The Sravs began to pile to available transports, and the first few successfully cleared the planet. However, the DTM had seized a number of defense and used them to bring down one of the transports. Nakata personally headed over and cleared said sites, and headed back to the evacuation zone, commandeering a DTM Rapier combat bike.

However, the DTM was starting to swarm into the evacuation zone, with the defense posts around it overwhelmed by suicide runs and numbers. Nakata had several spare fuel drums loaded into transport barges and rammed into the DTM ranks, briefly dispersing them.

The transport then began to lift off. Nakata was aware that several Srav troops had been left behind due to lack of space or time, and ordered them to sabotage Srav facilities on the planet. They did so, destroying several depots before being killed or captured by the DTM.

Aftermath[]

Following the battle, Nakata managed to present intelligence to Srav command, and managed to convince them that the DTM was a serious threat now. However, Ivran Gresev stressed that they were unable to mount adequate counterattacks due to most of their forces being committed to the offensive against the Necasians and elsewhere, but nonetheless ordered security to be tightened on outer Srav worlds.
