We Tatooinians love a simple life, don't we? Well we don't get much of that here at Dustfall anymore like you do up in the Jundlands. Our old mayor just wanted his newer blasters and that cost us dearly. Here's your salt, fresh with an Imperial tax that our people died trying to prevent!
—A shopkeeper to Luke Skywalker in 1 BBY

The Battle of Dustfall was a military engagement between Imperial stormtroopers and the militiamen of the Dustfall settlement on Tatooine.

Prelude[]

Seeking to expand his militia's armories, the mayor of Dustfall contacted the Mandalorian Naastau to supply the settlement with blasters which were recently stolen from an Imperial convoy. One of the blaster crates had a built-in tracker that, once already being unloaded, alerted a nearby Imperial garrison. The garrison's commander deployed a company of stormtroopers who occupied the town until the locals surrendered both Naastau and the stolen blasters. While they managed to hand over all of the blasters, Naastau was already in another part of the planet. Dissatisfied, the stormtroopers maintained the occupation and even began filtering the settlement's exports of aloe, salt, and rainwater (all of which were relatively nonexistent in other settlements).

The battle[]

As the occupation stretched into days during a rare heavy rainstorm, the locals had enough and began pestering the militia to act. One individual reached out to Naastau, who was at the Mos Eisley cantina and decided to return to Dustfall to meet with the mayor and help coordinate the uprising, though his real intention was to secure his lost goods to be resold to a more reliable client. After some consideration, the militiamen gathered their slugthrowers and began assaulting stormtrooper patrols in the streets while a squad of militiamen led by Naastau hijacked the radio tower and, with the help of an electrician, managed to jam their communications to prevent them calling for reinforcements.

The door-to-door fighting lasted days in the rain and thunder before one of the stormtroopers managed to escape back to the garrison base on foot and notify his commander of the events that were transpiring. Another company was deployed and led personally by the commander in his All Terrain Scout Transport as they surrounded the settlement. Some militiamen manned their Bantha-II cargo skiffs to intercept the reinforcements, but were defeated as none of their weaponry could overcome the walker and scattered into the surrounding mountains. When the mayor learned that a walker was involved, he ordered the remaining militiamen to surrender. As Naastau was running through the streets back to his ship to escape, he noticed a shack which the Imperials were using to store the confiscated blasters. After eliminating the two stormtroopers inside who were guarding the crates, he attached as many as he could carry to the tractor beam emitter of a Starhawk speeder bike and fled back to his ship. Along the way he noticed an injured mercenary who was caught in the middle of the battle; after recognizing the mercenary as an individual who bought him a drink at Mos Eisley earlier in the day, he rescued him. After loading the goods back on his ship and taking off, he attempted to strafe the walker but was quickly interrupted by a TIE fighter squadron that was circling above and was forced to flee Tatooine after a brief pursuit to sell his recovered goods elsewhere.

Aftermath[]

The surrendered militiamen, as well as the mayor when his headquarters was stormed by a squad of scout troopers, were promptly arrested and imprisoned at the garrison base. Dustfall remained under Imperial occupation until it was forcefully liberated by the Rebel Alliance many years later during the Galactic Civil War.
