Project Cruentus

The Battle of Crombach Station 1 was a battle of the Cruentusian War on Crombach Station 1, a platform within the Crombach Nebula belonging to the Necasian Military. The Death's Tongue Militia launched a sneak attack on the station, weakening it with the efforts of the Death's Knock Assassins before it was stormed by a force of militants. Nonetheless, the Necasians managed to beat them back, although the station was wrecked in the progress.

Prelude[]

As part of its new campaign to achieve superiority over the Necasians and Srav Federation, the Death's Tongue Militia decided to select Crombach Station 1, a heavily modified former Rakata facility in the Crombach Nebula, believing that the loss of the station would affect Necasian logistics and morale. However, the DTM had insufficient space power to lead a head-on assault on the station, so it decided to send its elite team of infiltrators known as the Death's Knock Assassins to penetrate the facility and allow it to be destroyed. The DKA was to be inserted aboard the station in a stolen SkyBull-class transport, with a small force of militants hidden aboard. Despite concern among militants over lack of information on the station, DKA leader Fayyad Ghazi believed they could easily improvise.

The battle[]

Sneaking aboard[]

As planned, the DKA and militant force approached the station aboard the stolen transport, taking the place of a ship due to arrive, with the DTM having arranged for it not to. Docking with the station, Ghazi transmitted a prerecorded message to the platform control that there was a reactor leak aboard the transport and that nobody could enter. To be sure, he temporarily sealed all main airlocks.

The DKA then entered the station via a cargo transferral accessway, and made their way through maintenance levels. Nimr Raji sabotaged several power lines, and Shahin Tayyib helped make their way through darker levels. They then began to split up, with Kahil Lu'ay and Yaza Zayn taking out security teams in front of the groups' path, before heading to security centers and disabling them.

Meanwhile, Durrah Inas and Majd Nashwan planted bombs around several areas on the station. By this point, however, Vinn Melton, highest-ranking Necasian officer aboard the platform, was aware that there was a security breach of some kind, and order Marines to the lower levels, where they were taken out. By now, the DKA's task was complete, and they made their way out of the maintenance levels. As soon as they were in an appropriate position, they detonated the explosives they had planted.

Boarding[]

At this point, the militants boarded the station. With many Necasian marines in the lower levels, the militants quickly overran the docking area, and suicide bombers detonated themselves in key points in that sector. Vinn diverted marines to the control section, but several squads were taken down by the DKA. Desperate, Vinn opened several access points in corridors to suck the militants into space. At this point, the DKA quietly sneaked off the station in a supply shuttle.

The DTM militants, meanwhile, captured the armory and began to make gratuitous use of Necasian armament, some of them injuring themselves in the process. Vinn decided to close off several sectors to stymie their advance, but the DTM simply blew open some of the doors. Meanwhile, several fuel links caused by explosions damaged parts of the station, causing auxiliary reactors to overheat and explode, damaging both the DTM and Necasians aboard the station.

Vinn had attempted to activate sentry guns, but they were disabled by DKA sabotage. He sent engineer teams to set up temporary generators, and Marine squads to cover them. Some engineers were intercepted and taken out by the militants, but some penetrated and began repairs on reactors and setting up of power generators.

This brought the sentry guns in some sectors online, and they began to gun down advancing militant squads. Some militant squads armed with DR12 rocket launchers managed to take out some sentry guns, but by this point the DTM were being scattered. With renewed vigor, the marines advanced and began pushing them back. In desperation, some militants committed suicide by detonating explosives they had on them, further damaging the station. Others surrendered, but within a few hours, Vinn declared the threat neutralized.

Aftermath[]

Nonetheless, the station was heavily damaged, and Necasian leader Askar Invado was infuriated when he heard the news. Although most Necasian security staff on the platform blamed Vinn for the fiasco, marine officers were demoted and court-martialled. Meanwhile, the DTM were satisfied that the station was rendered tactically irrelevant, and continued with their plans.
