Battle Group Apex, or Apex Group, was a forward-deployed ad hoc formation of the Galactic Coalition which operated out of the Kira sector during the Galactic Incursion. It was one of three battle groups―the other two being Tempest and Rogue―established to disarm, disrupt, and dissolve Dominion efforts in the galaxy.
From its inception in 17 ABY until 28 ABY, Battle Group Apex was commanded by General Ordo Bisska; afterward, leadership duties were transferred to General Fex M'klad.

Battle Group Apex was a large military organization, with a carrier naval force centered around the Bellicose and an attached ad hoc division of 20,000 troopers, many of whom originated from special operations units.
Apex was one of three similar battle groups organized and placed along the borders between the Expansion Zone and Mid Rim with the intent of containing the Dominion's gains long enough for the Coalition to mount an effective counterattack. To achieve this goal, Battle Group Apex coordinated erratic strikes deep into Dominion-held space in hopes of keeping them off-balance and disoriented.
