Babylon was a theorized gaia world in Wild Space. While the planets existence was confirmed by the Aradani Royal Navy, little else was known about the planet. It was often speculated Babylon found its way into our galaxy, rather than having birthed there.
History[]
The planet was discovered by the Aradani Royal Navy between 2860 BBY and 2000 BBY. As a military discovery, the planet was codenamed Babylon, but became popular in Aradani culture and for a time, Babylon stood synonym to the "perfect planet". Later, Babylon hosted a flotilla of the Aradani Royal Navy. The planet also gave way to the popular Aradani phrase, "perfect as Babylon", meaning something was very good.
When the Kingdom of Aradan disbanded in 35 BBY, Babylon initially fell outside of the Galactic Republic's zones of influence, the Teverae Nebula acting as a natural border. Despite this, the Cybe Sector Defense Forces maintained the Royal Navy's presence in the Babylon system.
Imperial take-over[]
When the Empire took over, loyalist Cybe Sector Defense Forces erased Babylon, Obitus and Remus from Star-charts kept by the Defense Forces in an attempt to outwit the Empire. As a result, the three planets had been forgotten by all, until at least Remus resurfaced again in 4 ABY.
In 2 BBY, wayward Empire of the Hand scouts stumbled upon the planet and came into contact with a desolate flotilla of the Cybe Sector Defense Force. After a brief exchange, the Chiss scouts were sent back on their way to Nirauan with their newfound knowledge.
By the time of the Second Imperial Civil War, the planet was often considered nothing but a myth. Despite this, explorers and treasure hunters made great attempts to find the planet, many of them not to return.
