Old Republic era

Frankly, if you'd been built on Corellia, I'd award you bloodstripes, Bee Seven. The fact that we got you a new shell doesn't change the fact that you died to save my friends and bring down the Kiss of Death.
—Mali Darakhan[src]

B7-Q4, usually called Bee Seven, was an astromech droid owned by Republic Intelligence and active during the New Sith Wars. It was equipped with a variety of Intelligence programs, along with heuristics to allow it to learn from experience in the field. It also had a hardwired program, "The Mission First", which overrode all other programs and forced the droid to follow orders.

Bee Seven was assigned to an Intelligence team led by Captain Cynan Oraska, and though all members of the team valued its contributions and treated it like a teammate rather than an object, Bee Seven was closest with Vesta, the team's cyborg droid specialist. The team refused to perform routine memory wipes on Bee Seven, believing the droid's experiences contributed to its efficiency and made it who it was. Over time, Bee Seven developed independent programming which created enormous loyalty to its teammates.

In 1,385 BBY, the team was assigned to infiltrate the Kiss of Death, flagship of the Sith Overlord Vedya Gasald, and steal schematics of the ship and access codes for shuttles coming aboard. Bee Seven and Neeric disposed of an astromech aboard the destroyer, which Bee Seven then replaced, performing maintenance aboard the ship even as it stole the ship's basic schematics from a cleaning droid. Neeric was captured by Sith Intelligence, and though Vesta successfully downloaded the landing codes, she was detected and pursued. She gave Bee Seven the information to transmit, but when Bee Seven attempted to aid her against her pursuers, she reluctantly activated The Mission First. Bee Seven was forced to go about normal business as Vesta was gunned down.

Bee Seven transmitted the information to Oraska, but with that done, its mission was complete and The Mission First deactivated. Free to pursue its own agenda, Bee Seven endeavored to get Neeric out of Sith custody. When a Jedi strike team boarded the Kiss of Death and Harshee Nefkin, Jirdo Yushari, and Bernius attempted to sabotage the ship's reactor core, Bee Seven warned them about Sith patrols lying in wait, and agreed to help them sabotage the ship if they rescued Neeric.

When the team freed Neeric from the Sith, Bee Seven assisted them in sabotaging the destroyer's shield generators. As the Kiss of Death became enmeshed in the Battle of Allanteen, Darth Kra'all pulled other ships close to cover the Kiss of Death's unshielded spots. At Tirien Kal-Di's suggestion, Bee Seven activated the ship's tractor beams at full power, pulling nearby cruisers into it. Knowing that the ship's own systems would override the commands the second Bee Seven stopped fighting it, Bee Seven went down with the ship to allow its friend Neeric to escape.

However, Bee Seven allowed Bernius to download its memory core before escaping. Bernius presented Oraska with three datacards containing the droid's memory, which would allow them to upload Bee Seven into a new droid shell. Oraska used contacts within Republic Intelligence to commission a new shell for Bee Seven rather than receiving a replacement astromech.

Lash Doros took Vesta's place on the team and took over her duties of tending Bee Seven; the droid was more welcoming than some of the others, though it too missed Vesta. During the Festival of Life some months after Vesta's death and Bee Seven's initial destruction, Mali Darakhan awarded Vesta a posthumous Cross of Glory. Despite his arguments with Republic High Command, he was unable to give Bee Seven an award too; however, Tirien Kal-Di found him a loophole in Republic military regulations which allowed him to give Bee Seven Vesta's Cross of Glory instead.
