The B2L battle droid was a variant of the B2 super battle droid. It sacrificed much of its armor durability for better speed and cost efficiency. The B2L was the second most mass-produced battle droid in the Confederacy of Independent System's arsenal, outnumbered only by the B1 model, and followed up by its heavier counterpart, the B2. The introduction of B2L as standard infantry reduced the role of the heavier B2s to security and shock trooper operations. There were approximately one B2L battle droid for every fifty B1 battle droid.
B2L battle droids were equipped with wrist-mounted light twin blasters; a much rarer variant, known as the B2L-R battle droid, was also equipped with a small wrist-mounted rocket launcher.
Behind the scenes[]
The B2L battle droid is based on the B2 super battle droids as depicted in the 2005 Star Wars: Battlefront II video game, whose stats were inconsistent with super battle droids as depicted in established lore.
